Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipsticks Review & Swatches

If you saw my UK beauty haul post a little while back, you'll have seen that I picked up a few of the Rimmel London Kate Moss lipsticks. It's been a few weeks since I bought these and I think I've road-tested them enough to draw some conclusions.

I have two shades from the new Nudes range (43 and 45) and two from the permanent range (101 and 107). The shade 101 is the only one that I didn't purchase on my most recent trip to the UK, but a little earlier on in the year.

From left to right: 43, 45, 101 and 107.

First off, the Nudes: I really liked the formula of these lipsticks, it's soft, creamy and comfortable to wear. I stand by my initial impression that the scent of these is a bit strong, however I've found that it doesn't linger, so it's not a deal-breaker for me! Shade 43 is lighter and more nude-y on me than 45 and I found (as with most nudes) that my lips had to be in good condition to wear it, as the colour will emphasise any dryness. Shade 45 I found to be more pink than I expected, however it still has a mauve colour to it, which is flattering and works well with a lot of different makeup looks. I didn't find these lipsticks to be very long lasting, however they also weren't drying so that was definitely a plus.

The two lipsticks I got from the Lasting Finish Matte Kate Moss lipsticks are part of the permanent range. 101 is a very light pink shade, a colour that I wouldn't usually gravitate towards. Whilst I don't love this shade on me when it's properly applied, I find it looks nice lightly patted onto the lips with a smokey eye. Of all these four lipsticks, 107 was the one I've been searching for the longest and the one I was most chuffed to finally get my hands on. It's the lipstick from this range I've heard the most about and I was eager to put it to the test. I wore it on an evening out recently and I have to say I was very impressed with it. The application of this was a bit of a challenge for me (I'm fairly cack-handed when it comes to applying darker lipsticks) but the colour itself is lovely. It lasted really well throughout the night, without being too drying. A love affair has ensued.

All in all, I'm very impressed with these lipsticks, they're good quality, there's a great shade range and they're super affordable. Now I just have to be patient until my next trip to the UK so I can stock up on some more shades!

  1. Such a great review! Shade 101 looks amazing, I need to go and pick this up the next time I'm in Boots (near enough every day). It's cool to also hear you wanting things fro the UK. I'm forever thinking we don't have a wide selection, compared to the US etc. haha.

    1. Thank you! Yeah, back when I lived in the UK I took the selection there for granted and now that I'm living in Zurich I'm really missing the UK brands, haha. You should definitely give shade 101 a try! xo
