Rituals Under A Fig Tree Candle Review

Rituals, Under A Fig Tree, Candle, Review

Rituals, Under A Fig Tree, Candle, Review

If you saw my recent home haul post, you'll have seen that I picked up the Rituals Under A Fig Tree candle a few weeks ago. I also had an extensive whine about how Rituals wasn't readily available in Switzerland. Since then, one of my friends has informed me that they sell Rituals at Zurich Airport and a few days ago I walked right past a Rituals shop in the old town in central Zurich - oops. It's safe to say that things have definitely progressed since I last researched their store locations!

Moving swiftly on from my redundant complaints, I have been putting this candle to the test for a little while now. Lighting a new candle for the first time is quite a commitment, because you really have to let it burn for hours, so as to completely melt the top layer of wax. Otherwise you end up with tunnelling and a massive amount of unused wax around the edges - no thanks.

I had this candle sitting on top of my desk for a while before lighting it and whenever I walked past, I'd get a lovely waft of the scent. I already (badly) described the scent in my home haul post, so to give you a more accurate description, the Rituals website says that this candle combines the mystical scent of the earthy-sweet Fresh Fig with Copaiba Oil, for its purifying effect on the body and mind.
I'd say it's a very light and fruity scent, which is very pleasant as a home fragrance because it isn't too overpowering.

The candle promises around 50 hours of burning time. I've used it a fair amount now, and it still looks like I've barely made a dent in it. My one gripe with this candle would have to be that the scent doesn't really fill the room when it's lit. It really is a very subtle fragrance, which definitely has its benefits, however unless you're in a smaller room you probably won't really notice the scent. It's not ideal, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make, because this really is an amazing smelling candle!

Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase and I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of this candle as the colder months approach. As soon as September comes around, I like to conduct all of my business from underneath a blanket, surrounded by candles so this will surely make a great addition. And seeing as I now know that Rituals is in fact available in Switzerland, I'm sure this won't be my last Rituals purchase - something I'm thrilled about, my bank account maybe slightly less so.

  3. The candle sounds wonderful. I admit that I'm a bigger fan of the very subtle scents because the ones that really fill the room usually give me a headache after a while.
