August 2015 Beauty Favourites

August, favourites, monthly favourites, wetnwild, comfort zone, rimmel, diptyque, chanel, crazy rumors, catrice

Okay, where did August go? I know that's literally what everyone says in their monthly favourites, but I feel as if this last month has just flown by. Despite that, I've been loving a fair few products throughout August! I've made some new discoveries this month that have become firm favourites and have made their way into my every day makeup routine.

August, favourites, monthly favourites, Chanel, blush, catrice, bronzer

First off, some complexion products. I picked up the Chanel Joues Contraste blusher in Angelique a little while ago. This featured in Chanel's Collection Rêverie Parisienne for Spring 2015. I bought this when I was in Ascona and on one of many visits to one of my favourite makeup shops. They always have products from previous collections for absolute bargains so I ended up getting this at half price - needless to say, I was chuffed. This is a lot paler than the above photo suggests, making it a great combination with bronzed makeup look, something I was donning on the regular this summer.
To achieve the bronzed complexion I so desired (flawless segue) I loved using the Catrice Matt Bronzer. This is a very warm toned bronzer and I learned the hard way that you need to use a very light hand with this - turns out a dayglo orange complexion doesn't suit me. On the plus side, it's very pigmented and super affordable, so this has been pretty much the only bronzer I've used all month!

August, favourites, monthly favourites, rimmel, foundation, wet n wild comfort zone, diptyque eau rose

I got the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation around February and somehow it disappeared into my stash and I never got round to properly testing it - terrible, I know. The weather was so incredibly hot throughout most of the summer here in Switzerland that I basically only wore tinted moisturiser from around May to July, but once August rolled around we had some cooler days. That's when I whipped out this foundation and properly put it to the test. It's a great foundation with good coverage and it lasts well on my skin so I've been using it almost daily!
If you saw my review of the Wet 'n Wild Comfort Zone Palette, you'll how much I loved this from pretty much the first time I laid eyes on it. I'll admit, I've barely touched the first three colours on the right side of the palette, but the shades on the left side and the definer shade on the right side are absolutely gorgeous. It also goes without saying that you get some serious bang for your buck with this palette!
Diptyque's Eau Rose roll on perfume has been my scent of choice this past month. Floral but fresh, this perfume is a lovely summer scent and probably one I'll still be wearing in Autumn - despite  it probably being completely seasonally inappropriate!

August, favourites, monthly favourites, wet n wild, bare it all, MAC, Stone, Chanel, Scénario, Crazy Rumors, bubble gum

Unsurprisingly my lip favourites are the biggest category of all. First off is another Wet 'n Wild product - I've been having a serious moment with this brand. This is one of their MegaLast Lipsticks in the shade Bare It All, a nude that I've been especially enamoured with for it's illusion of plumper lips when applied.
MAC's Stone lipstick was a purchase I made fairly late in the month, but I've worn it so much since I got it I thought it deserved a place in my favourites. I'm loving brown lipsticks at the moment and this is definitely a proper, very matte brown. Despite some horrified looks from family members when I've appeared with a full on chocolate coloured pout, I'm loving this lipstick.
Another lip product I've been using on the regular throughout August is one of Chanel's Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks in the shade Scénario. I'd describe this as a browny red - seriously with the browns, I know - which is fairly sheer on the lips. This has pretty much been floating around in my bag at any given time throughout summer!
Finally, we have a lip balm. I picked up one of the Crazy Rumors lip balms in the Bubble Gum scent. I'm not sure how widely available this brand is, but I picked it up in Holland and Barrett's when I was in the UK in July. I've tried these lip balms before, and I really like them. They have so many different scents, they're vegan and very moisturising, so this one made a nice addition. I've always had a bit of a thing for scented lip balms and even at my ripe old age of almost 22, not much has changed. Lips that smell like bubble gum? Sign me up!

So those are my August beauty favourites! There weren't too many because I did spend a fair portion of August makeup-free, hunched over a computer screen and stack of books writing uni papers, but I found time for makeup anyway - how convenient! Although I've loved summer, I think I'm definitely ready for autumn - bring on the copper eyeshadows and berry lipsticks!

    1. I know what you mean, drugstore foundations can be a bit tricky to find good matches for because there aren't that many shades, it's quite a challenge sometimes! Thank you, I hope you have a good day too! xo
