Travel Makeup Bag: London

My sister's heading off to uni this month and in lieu of the event, I've decided to tag along - any excuse for a holiday! Although she'll be studying outside of London, I'll be spending five days in the city. We leave tomorrow and I'm chuffed. I grew up in London and I spend most of my life so far living there, so I love going back to visit. As fellow beauty-obsessers will know, with taking a trip comes some serious strategising when it comes to makeup-packing. I did a post on my travel makeup bag a few months or so ago, but that featured far more summery products and since September has rolled around, I'm embracing autumn with open arms. So here it is, my streamlined travel makeup bag, optimised for the colder weather.

Complexion - My base products have been pretty consistent in the last few weeks, to achieve a more even face I've been using the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude foundation, with the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer to cover up and dark circles or blemishes. To keep everything nice and shine-free I'm bringing the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder. When it comes to blush, I like to bring fairly neutral shades when I go away, so that the colour will match all of my various makeup looks - practicality first. Chanel's Joues Contraste blush in the shade Angélique gets the job done for me and has great lasting power. Next up, contour and highlight. Kevyn Aucoin's The Sculpting Powder is my most used contour product and it's so tiny that it's perfect for travelling! Although I love a good highlight, the few highlighters I do have come in rather large powder compacts, so I'll be bringing my trusty Jouer tint and highlight duo, from the Blushing Beauty Collection. This one's also perfect to pop into your handbag for on the go!

Eyes and Brows - I think the first on the list was an obvious one. Me and my Wet 'n Wild Comfort Zone palette obviously can't be apart for five days. Look at those shades! The possibilities are endless! In terms of brows, I'm bringing my Urban Decay Naked Basics palette (I use a mixture of Naked 2 and Faint to fill in my brows) and the Maybelline Brow Drama tinted brow gel in the shade Dark Blond to set everything in place. I pretty much only use one eyeshadow base, no matter the makeup I'm going for and that's the MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly. It's a great one for evening out the colour of your eyelids if you're going for a no-makeup makeup look and it also stops eyeshadow from creasing or fading. For mascara I'm keeping it simple with a mini Benefit Roller Lash. I believe I got this as a free gift in Elle magazine and since I pretty much only use Benefit's They're Real! mascara, I thought I'd branch out and try another - I know it's still the same brand, shh! I know it seems ridiculous to take a near-empty MAC quad on holiday but where I go, so does my MAC Coppering eyeshadow. I've been loving this shade since I got it and as a bonus, MAC is so much cheaper in the UK than in Switzerland (like everything else) so I plan on filling this up a bit more whilst I'm in London - don't let it ever be said that I don't plan ahead!

Lips - Once again, I'm chuffed at my self control with choosing lip products, my makeup drawers are overflowing with lipsticks and I'm in desperate need of a clear out, but nevertheless I've skimmed it down to three. The first will come as no surprise to regular readers of my blog, MAC's Velvet Teddy is to date my most used lipstick and this is always knocking about in my handbag somewhere. Another firm favourite is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss lipstick - pause for breath - in the shade 107. I'm sure you all know about this lipstick, it's well known in the blogosphere and a great one for autumnal berry lips! Finally, I'm taking MAC Stone lipstick, which is a new favourite but one I think I'll be wearing a lot during the colder months - can you tell I'm excited about autumn?

So, those are all the products I'll be lugging with me to London, and if all goes to plan, these should cover all looks from day to night to everything in between. Here's to hoping I don't stress pack another kilo of makeup the day I leave - I can't promise anything!

    1. Hello! Yes, you purchase the template from the Pipdig website and then you can install it with the instructions or, you can do what I've chosen to do in the past, and have them install it for you. So unfortunately I can't give you any tips on how to install the template yourself, but I can really really highly recommend Pipdig as a whole, including their template installation service!

If you do want tips on how to install a blog template, I'd have a little google, as there are a lot of "how to" posts.

Hope this was somewhat helpful! xo
