From left to right: MAC Velvet Teddy, MAC Peach Blossom, Rimmel 43, Clinique Curviest Caramel and MAC Subculture.

This post might seem a little out of place given the current season. I've been harping on about berry lipsticks to everyone who'll listen and now I'm doing a 180 and presenting you with nudes? It's okay, there's a reason! Kind of... I love wearing bronzey and coppery eyes, both in the summer and the winter to be perfectly honest. But now that we're in the colder season, I've often gone for some bolder eyeshadow choices like MAC Cranberry and MAC Coppering and oftentimes I think that wearing a dark berry lip with an eyeshadow like that can look a bit much on me. So when I do go the whole hog and do a statement eye in the autumn, I'll often reach for a nude lip shade because you can't really go wrong with those. I'm a lazy girl at heart. In light of that, I thought I'd share some of my favourite nude lip products with you today and tell you why I like them!

My first pick won't come as a surprise. I've mentioned MAC Velvet Teddy a lot on this blog so far and I've already made the bold statement of proclaiming this one of my favourite lipsticks of all time. I stand by my word, because this lipstick is the stuff dreams are made of. It's one of MAC's matte formulas, which means it's long lasting as anything so you can snack! This can be a tiny bit drying if i wear it all day, but it's creamy enough to not really do much damage in that department. I just keep some lip balm around when I'm using this and I'm good to go. I'd describe this as a browny nude, kind of a dusty rose, if you will. I think I've worn this lipstick with almost every type of eye look I have in my repertoire and I have zero complaints. Big thumbs up!

Next up is MAC Peach Blossom, another one that I may have already mentioned on this blog before. This is a much more pinky nude and has some very subtle shimmer running through it, but don't worry, it doesn't translate onto the lips. This is one of MAC's Cremesheen formulas, which means the colour is fairly sheer and has slightly sheeny finish. I love the Cremesheen lipsticks for slicking on when you're on the go, because they're pretty foolproof and you can't do much wrong. Because of that, I've used this one loads and it's one that I've often had rattling around in my uni bag for quick train commute applications. Practicality is key!

I wrote about the Rimmel London Kate Moss lipsticks a while ago, here. This is one of the most impressive drugstore lipstick lines I've tried and I've built up a small collection of these. The above lipstick is actually one from the recent(ish) Lasting Finish Nude Collection. I remember searching high and low for shade 45 but the shade I actually ended up liking more was the one I picked up first, shade 43. I'd say that 43 leans more towards a terracotta shade, whilst 45 is slightly more pink. The former is basically just a lot more flattering on me and I really like the way it goes with a lot of different makeup looks. This isn't the most long-lasting formula (despite what the name may claim) and I'm not sure if that's down to me or not. Your lips do also have to be in very good condition for this, as it isn't the most forgiving shade. Qualms aside, for the price you pay it's a great product and I really do love the colour of this!

I got the Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Curviest Caramel as a gift a while ago after some prolonged not-so-sublte hinting. Whenever I pick this back up after a while and swatch it on the back of my hand, I'm always in awe of how pretty this shade is. It's like a slightly darker peachy pink and a shade that's actually very similar to my natural lip colour. I like to use this when I don't really feel like wearing much on my lips and want to sport a "my lips but better colour" - yes, I know it's annoying when people say that, I'm sorry! The formula of this is like a souped up lip balm and the intense line of Clinique's chubby sticks are more pigmented than the original ones, so this is akin to a richly pigmented lip balm. It's super comfortable to wear on the lips, moisturising and easy to apply and for a cack-handed gal like me that's a definite bonus!

Finally, we have the most recent purchase of the bunch, MAC Subculture lip liner. As with many blogger-enabled purchases, I kept seeing this pop up on the Internet and it looked so pretty that I couldn't resist it. Plus, when I was in the Lucerne MAC Store, this was the very last one, which I'm sure you know only serves to reinforce the whole "I have to make it mine and buy it this instant" feeling. Turns out, my instincts (as well as many, many blogger reviews) were right about this one. The colour of this is just gorgeous. It's a warm-toned nude rose (honestly, I can't with the shade descriptions) and it's a colour I happily wear under my nude lipsticks or just by itself. I do have to say that the texture of this is slightly harder than my other, slightly more creamy, MAC lip liners. Why that is, I'm not sure. I thought I might have gotten a faulty one but after doing some research online, it seems that others have had similar issues with this product. So it takes a little working with, but I assure you, the end result is worth the effort!

So yes, I have a thing for nude lip colours. These five products are some of the best I've tried and you can regularly find me sporting some sort of autumnal eyeshadow with a layer of some nude lip product slicked on. I love how fuss-free nudes are and to be honest, now that I spend a considerable portion of my day drinking chai lattes on the go, I'm glad that I don't have to worry too much about having bold lipstick smudged down my chin. It's the little things in life. Happy Friday and I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

  4. I don't have many nude lipsticks, I like the look of them on others but I don't think they really suit me. I have 45 from Rimmel, it is a beautiful shade and I like how creamy this range is. I want to get Velvet Teddy, it is gorgeous!
