October 2015 Beauty Favourites

Happy Friday! So another month has flown by, which means that it's time to round up the best products of October! I'm still very much in the autumnal swing of things and to be perfectly honest, the Christmas spirit is already creeping up on me. It's not my fault, okay? There are already ornaments and christmas trinkets sprinkled all over Zurich! With how quickly time has been passing lately, it feels as though Christmas is right around the corner anyway! Aside from my overenthusiastic and premature festive ramblings, there have been a few products that I've been reaching for almost daily throughout October. Almost all of these are actually products I've purchased over the last few months, so I've been switching up my makeup game a bit throughout October. Let's get on with the favourites!

Complexion - I picked up the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer when I went to London last month after hearing countless rave reviews. I've mentioned this before, but I have a real issue with concealers creasing for me underneath my eyes, so I hoped that this one would be the hero product I'd been looking for. I can't say that this doesn't crease on me at all, it does, but far less than my other concealers, so this has become my go-to concealer for my under-eyes. This is also a great one for brightening other areas of the face too, so I've been using this when I want to add a bit more light into my complexion - very much needed at the moment. Another product I've been using to aid my complexion is the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Perfector. I have to admit that I would never normally splurge this much on a primer, but that packaging! It's seriously what compact dreams are made of and the actual product isn't half bad either! This is marketed as a balm powder and is supposed to act as an invisible foundation, blurring pores and fine lines and leading to an overall smoother appearing complexion. I use this under my foundation and I really do find that it applies much more evenly if I use this product before. I tend to apply it where my pores are more visible and it just evens everything out nicely. To impart some rosiness onto my cheeks, I've been loving Sleek's powder blush in the shade Sahara. This is a lovely burnished orange shade and there's something that is just so autumnal about this colour. I've been loving pairing this with berry eyes and nude lips to add a flush to the face, without making the whole thing look too dramatic. Big thumbs up.

Lips - This last month has been one where I've added a lot of new lip products to my stash, although to be perfectly honest a lot of months are like that - guilty. One such addition has been the NARS Chelsea Girls Lip Gloss*, a product that has recently been added to their existing lipgloss lineup. I am not by any stretch of the imagination a lipgloss kind of gal. Aside from the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors - *pause for breath* - I really can't be bothered with the hassle of gloss. I detest stickiness and my hair sticking to my lips and all that jazz. This however, like the Clarins glosses, is not sticky at all. Unlike the sheer Clarins offerings, however, this gloss is very pigmented and since I've been sporting a lot of bold eye looks in the last few weeks, this has added a lovely nude colour to my lips. Definitely a product that'll still be floating around in my handbag in future months. The next two products I've been loving wearing together. The MAC Cultured Pro Longwear Lip Liner and MAC Modesty lipstick are honestly a nude lip match made in heaven - nice dramatic statement. The liner makes the lipstick hang around for so much longer and because Modesty is a cremesheen formula, the whole thing has a bit of a glossy finish - which I actually like! I don't know what's happened, but I've been steering away from my usual mattes and apparently I have a newfound love for all things glossy - who knew?

Eyes and Nails - Not much from me this month on the lids front because to be perfectly honest, I'm still endlessly using MAC Coppering and Amber Lights and I'm sure you don't just want a rehash of my September favourites! I've been meaning to try another shade of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo cream eyeshadow for a long time now, I've had the shade On And On Bronze for ages now and I love it. I recently spotted the shade Permanent Taupe after keeping an eye out for it for the better part of six months. I think this shade has only recently trickled through to Zurich's Maybelline counters and I picked it up remembering it having been dubbed a dupe for MAC's Groundwork Paint Pot. I would say that the Maybelline shade is a bit darker than the MAC one, but they are quite similar and I'm always happy to save my pennies where I can - being responsible and all that. I've been using this one all over my lids on those "can't really be bothered" days and it's a great way to make people think you've made an effort when you've actually just applied it with your fingers, stuck on some mascara and been on your way - time efficiency is key! The final product is a favourite for many people; Nails Inc Porchester Square nail polish. This is the only product in my favourites that I've owned for more than a few months and it's one that's remained a firm favourite for over a year now. This is just the perfect greige nail shade for when you don't really know what to use on your nails, but you want to look put together. There was a span of two weeks during October where I just repeatedly painted my nails with this - that's how you know it's a good one!

I always feel as though favourites posts are better suited to a video format because boy do I ramble! For that purpose, I've tried to keep this all very streamlined, so I hope you managed to get through this wordy one! I've also attempted to prevent myself from banging on about berry lips and eyeshadows again, but I feel like my autumn enthusiasm is still going strong and won't stop in November either! I hope you've all had a great October and that you have an amazing Halloween tomorrow! I shan't be doing much for Halloween because it's really not a thing in Switzerland and where I live, if you turn up at someones house dressed up and demanding candy, you're more likely to get a door slammed in your face than be handed any themed sweets - *sobs*. Swiss struggles aside, I'm ready for a new month and for all the new holiday makeup launches - bring on November!
