H&M Beauty Haul

I'm sure I'm not the only one who wasn't quite sure what to expect upon hearing about the H&M Beauty collection. It's not often that high street clothing brands really produce a stellar makeup lineup and the only other one I've heard a lot about is Topshop, so I was eager to see what the new H&M line had to offer. First off: this collection is huge. There's none of that "five dodgy shades of eyeshadow or three lipstick colours" - they've really gone the whole hog. There's a bevy of gorgeous-looking eyeshadow shades to choose from, various lipstick colours and formulas and a whole load of complexion products. Second: that packaging though! Yes, it's plasticky and it certainly doesn't feel weighted, but in terms of aesthetics, these have some of the prettiest packaging I've seen from lower end makeup brands for ages. It didn't take long for some of said products to find their way into my basket, so here's a little look at what I got!

Eyeshadow - These are kind of the showstoppers for me. Not only is the shade selection tremendous, but after I swatched these in store I was totally blown away. The colour payoff and pigmentation of the colours I had a look at were amazing. I picked up the shades Russet Rose and Orange Ochre, both very warm toned, orangey shades. Russet Rose is just stunning and it's one that can easily be used as a nice wash all over the lid. Orange Ochre is bright. It's definitely the boldest eyeshadow I've ever purchased, but if you blend a little of this into the crease with Russet Rose swept all over the lid, it's a beaut. I need to test these out a bit more to give you the full rundown on wear time and overall quality, but for a fiver a pop: I'm impressed!

Cheeks - I would have loved to stick one of all of the complexion products in my basket, but alas I'm not made of money. I ended up picking up the Pure Radiance Powder Blush in the shade Apricot. This is a colour that is quite different from most of the other blush shades I own, it's a lovely barely-there, very pale peachy pink. It has a matte finish too, so it seems the perfect shade for adding a little something to your cheeks without overpowering the rest of your makeup. I have yet to give this one a proper try yet, but for now: so pretty!

Nails - I have heard a lot of very good things about this nail polish formula and to be honest I wasn't all that fussed about it. I picked up the shade Shakudo (I can't seem to find this anywhere online, sorry!), which is a really pretty metallic rose gold/coppery kind of colour. Normally nail polish doesn't last long on me at all and metallic polish seems to chip especially quickly. That wasn't the case with this, after three days I only had some light tip wear and for someone who doesn't wear a top coat like me (I know, bad habit!) that is seriously impressive stuff! I'm really keen to try more of these shades because this is by far the best affordable nail polishe I've tried in a long time!

Lips - I'll admit that I had a really hard time restraining myself on this front. There were so. Many. Colours! Not only is there a fantastic shade range, but you also get the choice of either their Cream Lip Colour, Matte Lip Colour or Sheer Lip Colour formula. I picked up the shade Seashell, a cream formula, which is a very pretty nudey pink with some slight brown in it. I was also drawn in by their Tinted Lip Balm in the colour Sepia Tint (I'm sorry that these links are all over the place, it's really tough to find all of the shades online!) which is another browny pink shade - predictable? Me? Yeah, maybe. I have tried this a bit already and although I can't say much about how hydrating it is yet, the tint is virtually undetectable, so if you're after something that'll really leave your lips with some colour, maybe give this one a miss!

So those are the things I've picked up from the H&M Beauty line! Overall I am so impressed by most of the things I've tried so far and I'll definitely be making another trip or two in the future, but for now I'm saving my pennies for Christmas gifts. I'll let you know how I get on with these products too, so keep your eyes peeled for reviews soon! Until then, I will try to keep myself out of the H&M store and my purse firmly in my bag!

  2. The shade range is absolutely fantastic for all of the products, it took me so long to select an eyeshadow or two! Unfortunately I did find one of the ones I picked didn't have as good a formula as the other but I think it might be due to how glittery it is. You should definitely try a lip liner, they're fantastic! X

    1. It definitely took me a while to pick out the items too, there's just so much choice! I actually had the same experience with one of the eyeshadows not performing as well as the others, in my case it was the matte shade that was a bit more chalky. I'll definitely have a look at their lip liners, thank you for the recommendation! xo
