Life Lately | Merry Christmas & A Thank You

Merry Christmas! I can't quite believe that the big day is upon us - where has the time gone?! I'll be honest with you here, this post was actually supposed to be a baking post. I spent hours slaving over what turned out to be a very challenging recipe, only to end up burning the whole lot and subsequently having a little self-pity cry. Such is life sometimes. So I scrapped all the photos and stuff I had for that and thought I'd just sit down and have a little honest chat with you.

This last year has had massive highs and lows for me. It's been a stressful one with me being in my final year of uni and whatnot and it's brought along its fair share of challenges. One huge thing I did this year was start my blog. I know that it might not seem pivotal to a lot of people, but I've wanted to start a blog for two years. I have "blog posts" that I'd written up without even having a blog to publish them on dating back to 2013. I'm such a perfectionist that it totally held me back from actually putting my plan into action until in July I finally thought "sod it, I'm doing it". I'm so glad I did because I have absolutely loved blogging thus far. Although my perfectionist ways do still creep in, I've been putting out content three times a week for almost six months now whilst balancing my final year of uni on the side and I'm so happy I made the commitment.

What has been by far one of the most amazing parts of my blogging experience has been the lovely people in the community. At the start of my blog I couldn't imagine anyone even reading stuff I put out and I still remember how unbelievably excited and shocked I was to receive my first comment on my blog. I try my best to keep up with comments on my blog and my social media but unfortunately it's still not something I'm amazing at. I always worry that people think I'm a brat for not replying for a while, but to be honest I often let them build up and then feel so overwhelmed that it takes me a month or so to pull myself together and reply to all my comments. Each and every one of them means the world to me and it's still so exciting to me that people read my blog. I also love reading everyone else's blogs and it's just such a lovely community full of mutual support.

So basically what I'm trying to say is thank you. Thank you to all of you lovely people who continue to read my rambles, be they about beauty or life stuff and who are all so creative and talented themselves. The blogging community is so full of creativity and inspiration and I'm so chuffed to be a part of it.

Right, I'm done being sappy and emosh now - I just have a lot of feelings (Mean Girls anyone, eh, eh?). I wish you all the merriest of Christmases and if you don't celebrate Christmas, happy holidays! I hope you're all having a fantastic December and I'm so much looking forward to a fresh new year of blogging. Merry Christmas!
