December 2015 Beauty Favourites

First and foremost: Happy New Year! I really wanted to do a brief December favourites post, even though I'll be posting my best of 2015 post on Monday, so here we are! There were definitely a few new makeup finds and some rediscoveries this month so I thought I'd have a little chat about what I've been loving through the month of December!

First off, let's talk about base. December had my skin all kinds of crazy and I spent the majority of it just trying to stop foundation from making my skin look flaky - attractive. Because of that I had to completely switch up my usual winter foundation routine and opt for something much more moisturising. The Erborian BB Crème and CC Crème HD carried me through summer, imparting a lovely glowy finish to my complexion. I mix these together which has an amazing dewy finish and meant that my skin stayed hydrated throughout the day. So a great one for you dry skinned gals!

I have a bit of a ridiculous blush collection so I have to admit that sometimes I forget about certain blushes and neglect them for a while before rotating them back into my every day makeup. That's exactly what happened with MAC Fleur Power Powder Blush. I've featured this on my blog a fair few times throughout the month now, and it's just one that I've been continually reaching for recently. I know it might not seem like your typical winter blush at first glance, it being a peachy pink and all, but this just makes you look like you've been out having a gander in the snowy cold and you've returned all rosy-cheeked and healthy. Love.

I saw Sun Beams Jess talk about MAC Copper Sparkle Pigment in a get ready with me video and I was immediately adamant that I must find it. I go a little crazy for copper-toned eyeshadows so this pigment was right up my street. It took me visiting three different MAC counters, but I eventually found one that wasn't sold out and I practically grabbed it out of the sales assistant's hand - politely, of course. I knew that I wanted to use this for my New Year's Eve makeup, because it's the perfect amount of glittery and dramatic without being something I wouldn't feel comfortable with. This just makes your eyes pop and combined with a nude lip it is a thing of beauty!

Onto the lips! I think it was either at the very end of November or the very beginning of December when I picked up the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita. This is one of those all-occasion shades that you can slap on when you're going out in the evening and want to look more put together, or if you're looking to rock an everyday pink. I've long-since confessed my love for the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, I have two now and although for some reason the formula of Dolce Vita is a little harder to work with than my other one (Cruella) it's well worth the effort for me for the oh so pretty end result!

Last but not least we have the Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Tint-in-Oil in the shade 05 Cherry My Cherie. This is an interesting one, because it's essentially a lip oil that also contains a stain and I assumed this would just be like a gloss - but no! It really does feel so hydrating and it glides on to the lips and makes them feel so soft. This is by far one of the most comfortable lip products I've ever used and I've even applied this in the evenings because it's just so gosh darn silky! The tint is very pinky and does stick around for a while, so there's that added bonus too! I only have a tiny dinky little sample size of this, so once this runs out I think I'll have to take a trip to a YSL counter!

So there we go, those are some of the beauty bits I've been loving throughout December. It wasn't a whole lot of stuff, but you know what they say, quality over quantity, eh? I shan't have my usual ramble about how quickly time has flown by and so on and so forth but I hope you all had a fantastic December! Happy Friday!

I've been meaning to try out the NARS velvet matte pencils for too long now! They always sound like the most perfect and comfortable lip!
