Empties #2

So it's been a little while since my last empties post, and I've managed to use up a lot more products! In light of that, I thought I'd share the products I've recently used up with you. Plus I'm glad that I no longer have to harbour what is essentially rubbish under my sink so there's pros all round! This one's a bit of a mix of skincare, haircare and beauty bits. So in short - there's a lot of stuff! I will try my best not to get too rambly and to keep things nice and streamlined!

First off some "boring" stuff. I'm not someone who gets too fussed about haircare. I don't know what it is, but it's a category that just bores me and because of that I tend to just grab what's on offer in terms of shampoo and conditioner. That's kind of what happened with the Syoss Keratin Hair Perfection Shampoo and Conditioner. I'm fully aware of how silly this will sound but I really don't know what to say about these! They cleaned my hair and seemed to get the job done well enough! Will I repurchase? Probably not because I'm a haircare floozy but I have no complaints! Next up is the Le Petit Marseillais Lait de Vanille shower gel. This is a brand I often go to for shower gels or shower creams because they have so many different amazing scents. This one was no exception, it smells amazing and I'll probably repurchase another scent from this line in due time - I'm a creature of habit.

Onto the skincare! I seem to plough through skincare like it's nobody's business and for some reason my skincare has the not-so-convenient habit of all running out at the same time. Does this happen to anyone else? I've spoken about the Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream a lot around these parts and for me it's a bit of a holy grail item. From what I've seen it's a kind of a marmite product with quite a cult following, but also a lot of people who don't like it at all. Having said that, I think the richness of this moisturiser is great for this time of year and I shall be repurchasing it soon! I also ran out of my La Roche Posay Toleraine Fluide moisturiser which I used throughout summer. This is a great one for the warmer months but if I do repurchase this it won't be until then because for now my skin needs a bit more hydration! Another product I used up was the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. This is a Caroline Hirons approved cleanser, so naturally it has a huge following. I've been using this for years now and I've lost count of how many of these I've used up, but if I had to guess, this was probably the fifth? Who knows! For the first time in ages, I haven't immediately gone out and repurchased this. I recently switched up my skincare routine for the first time in a really long while and it seems to be working. I'll probably go back to this cleanser at some point because it really is a great one, but for now I'm going to continue on with what I'm currently using.

I ran out of three different toners in December, the first being my second can of La Roche Posay Serozinc. Although this is a nice, calming spritz for your skin I doubt I'll repurchase this one again. To be honest it's an absolute pain to get ahold of in Switzerland and as time has gone on I feel like my skin just hasn't really liked it as much. Maybe I'll pick this up again at some point in the future, but for now I'm taking a little Serozinc break. The second toner of mine to kick the bucket recently was the REN Clarifying Toning Lotion. This is my fourth or fifth bottle of this, despite the fact that it costs almost exactly double as much in Zurich as it does in London, which I am more than a little miffed about! It is, however, one of the best gentle exfoliating toners I've ever tried and it's one of those products where I see a visible difference in my skin once I start using it again. This one will most likely be repurchased again soon! Last but not least on the toner list is a tiny little Dr. Hauscka Facial Toner sample from the Dr. Hauscka advent calendar I had in December. I really didn't think I'd like this but for some reason this cleared my skin up so quickly in the week I was using it. Something that really put me off was that alcohol was listed as the third ingredient which is usually a massive no-no for me. However, in this case it didn't seem to do any harm but if you do have sensitive skin be wary! I have already repurchased this in the full size so I'll let you know how I get on with it!

Finally, we have some beauty/miscellaneous bits! The first product in this lineup is the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. I've loved this product for a long time and I really do think it can contribute to a more restful night's sleep. Plus it smells kind of like a spa and that's always a good thing! That grimy looking nail polish is the Butter London Nail Foundation, which I use as a base coat for my nail polish. I believe this is my third bottle of this and whilst it does do a fairly good job, it's pretty darn expensive so I think I'll put off repurchasing this for a while and stick to some cheaper base coats for now!

In terms of beauty, I used up the By Terry Baume de Rose almost exactly a year after getting it for Christmas the year before last. My heart used to belong to the Dior Crème de Rose but alas that's been discontinued for a while now - much to my disdain. The By Terry option is very similar but I find it just a tiny bit less hydrating. Having said that, I absolutely love the Rose scent and I always apply this before I go to bed. I was lucky enough to get another one for Christmas this year, so I'll be carrying on using this for a while! This next one is a bit of a sore subject. I am obsessed with the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil in the shade Blondeshell. It is the best brow product I have ever tried and it is so affordable. This is the second one I've used up and I can't get my hands on a new one! They don't sell Soap & Glory in Zurich, so I'll have to be patient and wait until I next go to the UK but I'm not happy about it! So put in less dramatic terms: yes, I will repurchase this when I can! Last but not least I used up the Crazy Rumors Lip Balm in Peppermint Twist. I'm a sucker for mint lip balm and I really liked this one. I kept this on my desk at all times and it's been my go-to since the beginning of the year. So the next time I'm in the UK I'll most likely be repurchasing this one too!

Yes, I know, this ended up being just a touch on the long side - sorry! I love reading empties posts because I always find that people mainly use up the products they love and it's always interesting to read about others' frequently repurchased items! Of course it's also accompanied by the added benefit that I've been able to actually throw this stuff away. Hopefully this hasn't been too long and rambly and you've had a bit of an insight into some of my long time product loves! Now that this this post has been written the hoarding of empty products can recommence - hurrah!

  1. Le Petit Marseillais is massive in France, I didn't know it was famous abroad though, that's great!
I really want to try the Serozinc as it is supposed to be excellent to sooth the skin. Next time I go back to France, I'll get some!
Lovely article and it's going to sound weird but I like the tiles ahah.

  2. My skin likes Serozinc some days and hates it other days, but such a hard brand to get anywhere!

  3. The facial toner looks amazing! Maybe I can get a small size for myself to try out
