The Repurchases

Most Repurchased Beauty, skincare, makeup, garnier, benefit they're real, jo malone, perfume, by terry baume de rose, lush ultrabland, dr hauschka rose day cream, soap and glory hand food, sally hansen insta dri, beauty

Let's not beat around the bush here: I buy a lot of stuff. By a lot of stuff I mean a lot of makeup and beauty items because I'm a bit of a hoarder and I'm okay with that. However, despite me adding to my overflowing beauty stash being a fairly regular thing, repurchasing is something that doesn't happen quite as often. Repurchases have been far and few between for me in the last year. One reason is because most makeup (ie. lipstick and eyeshadow palettes) last a pretty long time and don't require much repurchasing. Another reason, however, is that I don't often find something I love so much that I dash out of the house to repurchase it following the panic-stricken realisation it's run out. So today I thought I'd share some of the bits that I've repurchased immediately after finishing recently. In other words I love these things a lot and get more stressed than I'm willing to admit when they run out!

I've been using the Benefit They're Real! Mascara for years now and using anything other than this on my lashes seems absolutely unimaginable. Slightly ridiculous - I know - but I've never found a mascara that works as well on my lashes as this does. This is on the pricy side and to be honest it makes me cringe a little thinking about the fact that this is most likely my sixth tube of the stuff. I've vowed to try some new mascaras this year so I'll keep you posted on how I get along with that!

Similarly, the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat in the above photo is most likely my fifth bottle. This is hands down the best top coat I've ever used in terms of quickly drying your mani. I'm someone who mainly remembers to paint her nails at one of two times; either at about 11:30pm before I go to bed or about ten minutes before I have to leave the house. In both scenarios: smudge city. So if you're anything like me and often find yourself in a similar conundrum, give this a try. Trust me, you won't be disappointed - pillow marks be gone! I've spoken about the By Terry Baume de Rose on here before, so I won't go on but when this ran out in December I most definitely had a sad little moment before quickly placing it on my Christmas wish list. Santa delivered and this is thankfully back in my life again. In my eyes this is the perfect before-bed lip balm and it smells all kinds of amazing!

I've stuck one lone perfume in here because aside from the Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume, this is the only fragrance I've ever repurchased. There's something really grown-up about the Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Cologne and it's a scent that's kept me going back for more. I was about to type that I've already made it halfway this second bottle but I've glanced over at it to realise that I only have about a quarter left - sob. I've read that this is an autumn/winter scent but to be honest, I wear this all year round. I think it's earthy enough to be worn during the colder months but still fresh enough to be a great one throughout spring and summer too (look at me pretending to know about scents!). I guess this is my official notice to start saving for a new one of these!

So, skincare. Predictably the number one category in terms of repurchases because when it comes to my skin, I don't like to take chances. I have very sensitive, combination skin and I'm never quite sure how I'll react to new products so I like to play it safe. Something that's done what it says on the tin for over a year in my skincare routine is the Garnier Micellar Water. I won't say much about this; it takes off your makeup without claiming to be anything wildly fancy and it's super affordable. Love. In terms of cleanser I've actually been using the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm for years now. It's only in the last few months that I fancied a change and went back to an old favourite, namely the Lush Ultrabland cleanser. Ultimately this is just a lot more moisturising than the Clinique and I've used this enough over the years to know that my skin likes it. This is the second tub of this I've bought recently and I plan on getting another once this one kicks the bucket too!

Moisturisers are another thing where I'm a creature of habit. I love Dr. Hauschka skincare and although some of their products are on the pricier side, they've been doing amazing things for my skin recently. The Rose Day Cream has cropped up around these parts before and whilst I used to be hellbent on the idea that this was far too heavy to use as a day cream, I'm now doing just that because my skin has been so dry throughout winter. Now I'm not a crazy person so bear in mind I only use a thin layer of this during the day, but I find my makeup sits very well on top of it and tends to look less cakey. I've actually been using this on and off since I was a teenager so it's definitely a tried and tested firm favourite! Another moisturiser I've been using for a long time is the Soap & Glory Hand Food. Again, I've been using this since I was about 14 (which I've just realised is almost 10 years - wow I'm old!) and I've loved it ever since. Even though I can't get my hands on Soap & Glory in Switzerland, I always go out of my way to pick this hand cream up when I'm in the UK. It sinks in quickly, does a great job of moisturising your hands and just smells so good!

So there we go, a brief lowdown on some of the products that I can't live without and feel the need to replace as soon as they're nearing an end! Do let me know some of your must-repurchase beauty bits because I'm always on the lookout for new favourites! Also I'd be really grateful if you have any drugstore mascara recommendations, because, you know, the spending and that! I hope you've all had a lovely weekend!

  1. I love the Benefit They're Real! Mascara. I always pick up a sample when they are available at Sephora to avoid having to spend too much purchasing it over and over again.
I need to get Blackberry and Bay. It's the next Jo Malone scent on my list. I currently own Wood Sage & Sea Salt and it is gorgeous! xx

  3. The benefit they're real mascara is one of my favorites too! I've repurchased it about 4 times now. I started wearing a jo Malone fragrance recently and I love it so much, I'll have to repurchase it when I run out.
