All About Orange

All About Orange, orange makeup, blush, lipstick, eyeshadow, nail polish, sleek lace, rimmel happily evie after, rimmel audacious, rimmel rendezvous, maybelline orange punch, review

So it's official - spring is finally here! The weather's even starting to play along and the snow in Zurich seems to have finally quit - at least for now. Throughout most of winter I was almost constantly sporting more grungey makeup; dark lips, bronze tones and copper eyes were somewhat of a uniform for me during the colder months. In my post about spring pinks, which I wrote just under two weeks ago, I declared my current love for bright colours. I've recently gotten back into incorporating orange into my beauty routine, which is most likely a clich├ęd side effect of the current sunny weather, but it's definitely rekindled my love for a lot of products! There's something about the colour that can really perk up your complexion and also act as the focal point of a makeup look. Orange can be a bit of a daunting colour in beauty products (bar nail polish), so I've included some bolder and some more everyday options! Here's a peek at six of my faves!

Sleek Blush By 3 in Lace - I've gone on about Sleek blushes before, they're some of my all time favourites, they're super affordable and the quality is fab. This was my first Blush By 3 that I bought from them and I believe it's one of their more popular ones. Whilst all three shades are a thing of beauty, I've been particularly enamoured with the orange (you guessed it) on the very left. It's such an incredibly pigmented shade that you really only need a tiny bit, and it lasts really well. This does wonders at perking up a dull complexion (aka. mine) and looks amazing with a bronzed up face.

H&M Beauty Eye Shadow in Orange Ochre - This is a bit of a scary one when you look at it in the pan, but it's really pretty on the eyes - promise! To make this super bold shade slightly more wearable, I like to use a peachy-toned shimmery shadow all over the lid and then just blend this into the crease. It warms up an eye look so much and if you have blue eyes this will really make them stand out! The formula of this is ever so slightly chalky, so it does take a bit more elbow grease when it comes to blending, but the end result speaks for itself!

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious - This is a bit of an oldie in my collection and I was absolutely obsessed with it when I first bought it. It is bright. Like a seriously gorgeous bright orange coral shade. I find that this looks best when I look a bit more tanned - be it the product of sun or bronzer - so when I'm slightly paler I like to just pat a bit of it onto my lips as opposed to applying it full on. The pigmentation of this rocks and the lasting power is pretty darn decent too! Definitely one to try if you'r after a budget bold lip!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous - If you're after a more sheer and subtle orange tint then this might be the one for you. I picked this up last summer on holiday because it was on sale and ended up wearing it for pretty much the rest of my stay. It's a great way to wear orange without really going all out and the fact that it leaves a stain means that it's super fuss-free too. This is very moisturising and like the rest of the Colourburst line, it smells like mint - definitely a bonus in my books!

Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Colour with Lycra in Happily Evie After - Okay, so this is more of a coral, but I'm still filing it under orange! This is one of those shades that kind of makes you look like you're tanned, even though you've barely seen the sun. This is the only shade I own from this range, but I keep meaning to pick up more because the lasting power of this is really good! They also have a great brush, which means that application gets a whole lot easier - definitely something I appreciate!

Maybelline Superstay 7 Day Gel Nail Colour in Orange Punch - This is pretty much a straight up orange, no coral, no hint of red, just orange through and through. Aside from the lovely shade, the Superstay range is great in terms of long-lasting formulas. I own a fair few shades from the line and I can vouch for them being pretty great value for money! I also really love the name of this, I'm not entirely sure why, but it definitely sold me!

Can you tell I'm slightly orange-obsessed at the moment? Writing this has made me want to take of my current nail polish and paint them orange again straight away! I'm not sure what it is about this weather that's making me want to surround myself with colour. It's not just my makeup either, my wardrobe is usually a strictly neutral kinda zone and I almost bought a pink jumper yesterday! On that note, I'm off to paint my nails!

    1. I tend to gravitate towards more coral-orange shades of nail polish, so slightly more pinky too! I think orange lipstick is a lot like red lipstick in the sense that pretty much anyone can pull it off as long as it's the right shade or tone! xo

    1. Long-lasting nail polishes are just fab, there's something kind of amazing about being able to wear nail polish for a week without chipping or tip wear! Thank you so much for mentioning me in your post, lovely! It was a great one, as per usual! xo
