Shopping My Stash

I'm hitting you with a bit of an OG blogpost today. I've been watching YouTube videos and reading blogs for a long time, and this used to be a bit of a favourite. In case you're not familiar with the term "shopping your stash" it's basically when you have a good old rifle through your beauty stash (which in my case is just a tad excessive) and find new things you haven't really tried much yet or rediscover some oldies. So that's exactly what I've done today; I had a look through my makeup draws, pulled out some products that I really haven't shown enough love to as of late and decided to share some of my thoughts on them!

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm // This is one of those products that has quite a cult following and it's definitely an interesting one. The deal behind this is that you smooth on a thin layer over your skin (pat and don't rub, according to the strict instructions) and then apply your makeup over it straight away. This promises tightened and brightened skin, improving the overall appearance of your makeup. I got this in a set a little while ago and I never really got into using it. Having rotated it back into my makeup routine again lately, I have to say that it does do a great job at boosting the radiance of my skin. The smell is a little weird (kind of like sunscreen?) but you can't fault it's performance!

Clinique Pop Lip Color & Primer in Nude Pop // I think I'm one of many who jumped at the chance of getting this little sample in Glamour magazine a while back. As keen as I was to track it down, I never really put it to use properly, mainly because I have a ridiculous amount of lip products - guilty! This is, however, such a pretty nude shade and the formula is really creamy. I think this is definitely one I'll enjoy using more during the warmer months too!

NYX Powder Blush in Cinnamon // I hauled this a while back and never used it, which I know is terrible, but I've cracked into it now and I have to say that I really like it. This is definitely one to use with a light hand and by light hand I mean literally barely touching the product with your brush - this stuff is intense! So you can't fault the pigmentation for starters! I'm a big fan of the NXY blushers and this one is no different, it lasts well and the colour is gorgeous!

Wet 'n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow in Nutty // If you've been reading my blog for a while now, you may remember that when Wet 'n Wild was first released in Switzerland I went a little crazy for it. For a while my blog seemed like it was solely dedicated to hauling and reviewing Wet 'n Wild products. Long story short, I have a lot of bits from the range, and this eyeshadow doesn't get used nearly enough. I like to convince myself that I'll use single eyeshadows, but really I always tend to go back in for my palettes. Nonetheless, this is such a pretty colour. It's one of those shades that looks a bit nothing-ish in the pan, but once you swatch it, it seems to completely transform. It's a gorgeous shade and looks super flattering on the lids. A one wash wonder that's definitely going to be put to use more now!

So there we have it, a little delve into my makeup stash. I really enjoyed writing this post because truth be told, I have more than enough makeup already and whilst I love trying new products, it's also important for me to start making a proper dent in what I already own! Often old favourites kind of go under when I discover new things, so it's fun to have a good look through and find old and new favourites! Plus it doesn't hurt that shopping in the aisles of your own stash saves a few pennies!

  2. I feel you so much on the single eye shadows...never use them as much as I should. This shade is so nice though - gotta dig out mine again now :)
