Spring Makeup Essentials

Spring Makeup Essentials, beauty, highlight, blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, review

The weather may still be slightly undecided, but spring has definitely sprung and I couldn't be happier. Both my wardrobe and my makeup have had a bit of a reboot with the new season and I've been bringing back some of the products that took a back seat throughout winter. I've been all about light and fresh makeup so far this month, so that is definitely the underlying current here. There are some products I've found myself reaching for very regularly these last few weeks so I thought I'd let you know which of them I've crowned my spring essentials!

The Balm Mary Lou Manizer - I'll get this one out of the way first because this is a pretty constant favourite for me, no matter the season, and I rant on about it at any given opportunity. I've been opting for super glowy makeup recently, so I've been piling this on like there's no tomorrow. Although I did crack out the highlighter during the colder months too, I've been keeping my makeup extra light as of late and this has really helped my complexion look super healthy.

Jouer Cheek &Lip Tint in Honeysuckle - I don't talk about Jouer enough on here, I definitely count them as one of my favourite makeup brands! They're not too easy to get ahold of but Cult Beauty stocks their products and they're pretty fab in terms of shipping. Jouer is all about natural looking makeup and the Honeysuckle tint is perfect for light, fresh makeup. I sometimes struggle with cream blush and find that it just moves all my makeup around, but this is so blendable that even I can use it! It's a great one for no-makeup-makeup days and it works on both cheeks and lips so you can just chuck it in your bag and go!

Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush in Cherub - Yes, I've sneakily stuck another blush in here but with good reason! This is another product that I use all year round but particularly once the weather starts to warm up again. If you're anything like me and have an issue with your makeup literally melting off your face once you're in the sun for more than an hour, then this is a great one to try. Aside from this imparting the most gorgeous rosy glow, the formula is waterproof and sticks around all day. It's so pigmented that you really only need one drop for both your cheeks. I lightly blend it in with a dense buffing brush and it has a bit of a dewy finish, which keeps you looking fresh and healthy. Perfect for any season really!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Permanent Taupe - I know what you're thinking, that doesn't look like a spring shade at all, where are the champagnes at? I'm a firm believer that taupe is an all-year-round kinda thing and the shade of this is so natural that it looks good no matter the season. A prime selling point for me with the Color Tattoos is how convenient they are. No time for eyeshadow? Use your finger, pop some on your lid and use a different finger to blend it out. No, you won't look like Lisa Eldridge did your makeup, but it'll definitely fool people into thinking you've put in more effort than you really have!

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita - This product and I got off to a bit of a rocky start because it's not quite as pigmented as some of my other matte lipsticks. We were, however, able to put our differences aside (tad dramatic) because the shade of this completely won me over. I don't know what it is about the colour of this that is so incredibly flattering but it just brightens up my whole face when I use it. I've been reaching for it a whole lot in the last few weeks and whilst it may take a few more swipes than your average lipstick to get an opaque finish, it's well worth it! This on the lips with a bit of highlighter on the cupid's bow makes for a really fresh-faced look, something I'm definitely after for spring!

So now that I've said "fresh" about forty times in this post, I'll wrap things up! I'm off skiing next week and I'll be residing in a chalet without internet or TV for five days, so here's to hoping I find a way to get my blog posts up nonetheless! I hope you all have an amazing weekend and a very happy Easter!
