Jouer Long Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipstick | Review & Swatches

Jouer Long Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipstick Review & Swatches, noisette, pamplemousse

As soon as I heard about the Jouer Long Wear Lip Crèmes online, I knew I had to get my hands on them. Jouer is one of my favourite brands for good quality, natural makeup that does what it says on the tin and I always look forward to their new releases. Cut to me realising I couldn't have these shipped to Switzerland (delivery costs be cray) and stalking Cult Beauty on the reg, waiting for them to be released. When I got the email, saying that the Long Wear Lip Crèmes were available on Cult Beauty, I practically ran to my laptop. I've been wearing these every day since I got them so I think it's high time I share my thoughts - spoiler alert: I'm kinda obsessed!

When I was waiting for these to be available on Cult Beauty, I looked up pretty much every review post and YouTube swatching video of these lipsticks. These are available in 16 shades and there's a load of variety there. The colours really aren't your run-of-the-mill shade selection, something that's definitely emphasised by the fact that there are four metallic shades in the range! Following a whole lotta research (read: stalking) I decided on two shades (which was no easy feat because really I want all of them): Noisette and Pamplemousse.

Choosing Noisette was a bit of a no-brainer for me. I see a brown, I want the brown, I buy the brown then I wear the brown every day. There's something I love so much about these kinds of shades and I continue to gravitate towards them. The real surprise to me (and to my sister when she saw me wearing it) was Pamplemousse, a metallic rose gold/champagney shade. I don't even like shimmer in a lip product and I'll steer clear of glitter in glosses and lipsticks, but for some reason I was so drawn to this colour. Perhaps it's because I've never seen anything like it, but the gurus I saw rocking it on YouTube totally convinced me, so into my basket it went.

So let's talk packaging for a minute. Jouer is pretty well known for it's adorable makeup packaging that slides together to make build-it-yourself palettes. If you're not sure what I mean, have a look at their Blushing Beauty Collection, which I think is one of the first pieces of makeup I ever ordered online and am still obsessed with. These lipsticks have that same functionality, in that they'll slide into Jouer compacts. The lipstick is housed in a little rectangular plastic tube that feels super light and very handbag-friendly. They have your standard doe-foot applicators, which make applying these fairly easy.

The product itself is very pigmented and the texture of the lipsticks is like a light cream that then sets down into a matte finish almost straight away. These smell absolutely amazing. I can't quite put my finger on what it is the scent reminds me of but I'd say it's a bit of a cross between vanilla and caramel. Just straight up amazing. However, if you're not one for fragrance, fret not, because the smell of these pretty much disappears and is almost undetectable once you're wearing it.

Let's start off with Noisette, the brown offering. This is a pretty true brown, without any grey or pink to it, making it a little different to the other browns in my collection. Kat von D Lolita is more mauvey, and MAC Stone has more grey to it, whereas Noisette looks pretty neutral in comparison. As I said before, you apply this and it dries down in about twenty or so seconds. You can get an opaque coverage with one swipe, but the colour is also buildable. This is still a pretty bold shade as far as browns go, but I think it's such a flattering colour. It wore really well on me pretty much all day with one reapplication and I even ate pizza wearing this and it made it through. If a lipstick passes the pizza test then it's already pretty much a winner in my book!

Onto Pamplemousse, my boldest lipstick choice to date. First off, this stuff is so pigmented! You literally only need what you get on the doe foot applicator for both lips and even that is more than enough! In the back of my mind, even when I'd already bought it, I figured that the shimmer in this would transfer, I just didn't see how something with this kind of colour and formula wouldn't. Boy, was I wrong. I pressed my lips to my arm a fair amount to see if it would transfer, but every time there was nothing. I ate with this, drank with it, I did it all and it stuck around. Towards the end of the day this did fade a lot, but I didn't reapply it at all and overall the lasting power was pretty stellar. I don't think I have the courage to rock this on an everyday basis yet, I still think I kind of look like an alien wearing it, but the editorial vibe it gives off is just so cool and unique. I don't regret picking this up at all and I'm looking forward to figuring out how to make it work on me!

The overall consensus on the formula of these is that it's absolutely amazing. Both lipsticks gave a super even coverage and for the most part I completely forgot I was even wearing lipstick, that's how light the texture of these is. Yes, they're still a tiny bit drying but nowhere near as much as the other liquid lipsticks I've tried and for the longevity you want from a liquid lipstick, something's gotta give. One thing that's hugely important to me is the fact that you can reapply these without having the finish go weird or the lipstick balling up or crumbling off. That's an area where so many other good liquid lipsticks have let me down, because when they start to fade it's either take it all of and start again or abandon ship. You can reapply these throughout the day and they'll still look fab!

I seriously think that these are the best liquid lipsticks I've tried so far and I can't rave about them enough! There are about ten other shades I have my eye on and once those are back in stock I'll definitely be picking up another few. I highly, highly recommend giving these a try! They retail for £14 a pop, which, although not cheap, is very reasonable for the product and less than I've paid for some other, sub-par lipsticks. So if you're after a liquid lipstick that really goes the extra mile, give these a try - they're kind of amazing!

Can you tell I'm mildly obsessed? I apologise for the pretty crazy length of this review, but I wanted to cover all bases and really let you know why these are worth a try! Have you tried these lipsticks or are you looking to pick up one of the shades? I'd love to hear some of your thoughts! Now excuse me whilst I wait for the other colours to go back in stock... Happy Monday!
