Shopping My Stash #2

I'm giving my purse a rest at the moment and thought it was only fitting that I do another shopping my stash post! If you're not familiar with this concept, it essentially involves me going through my slightly (read: very) overfilled beauty draws and pulling out some bits that I haven't used in a while. Kind of like shopping but in your own beauty stash! I found five products that deserve a bit more love, so I thought I'd start rotating them back into my makeup routine and let you know my thoughts!

MAC Pigment Naked - This product and I got off to a pretty tragic start when I tripped whilst holding it and proceeded to spill about half of it all over myself, the floor and a pile of clothes next to me. I think that might be why I didn't use this product much afterwards, I was so scared of spilling it again and essentially just wasting the whole thing. My ridiculously clumsy self aside, this is such a pretty pigment. It's a nudey pearlised shade that looks gorgeous as an inner corner or browbone highlight. I have to play around with it a bit more to see what else I can use it for, but for now I'm very happy indeed to be putting this to use again!

NYX High Definition Eyeshadow Base - I often get into this habit where when I find a product that works for me, I'll abandon everything else and only use said product. That was the case with the MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, which I've used for an absolute age now and haven't strayed from since. Before the MAC offering the NYX primer was my jam, I used it every time I wore eyeshadow and loved it. It's a super affordable alternative that still does a great job at keeping everything in place on your lids. It's high time I gave this another try and finally got through this!

KIKO Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in 06 - Honestly, I could wax lyrical about the KIKO makeup range! Their makeup is so affordable and a lot of it is on par with my high end beauty bits. This is definitely one of those products! It's an eyeshadow stick that glides onto the lid and then once it's on, it ain't going anywhere. Seriously, this stuff is heavy duty! If you swatch this and leave it for a minute you have to use an oil to properly get it back off your hand. That does, however, mean that it lasts like a dream on the lids. I don't use this anywhere near enough and whenever I do crack it out I'm always surprised by the quality. The opacity is and pigmentation are top notch, and the bronzey colour of this particular shade is beaut'. Even if you do have to be quick on your feet with the blending before it sets in place, this is a keeper!

NYX Wonder Pencil in Light - So this is a bit of a do-it-all type product and claims to be ideal for concealing blemishes, for lining your lips to prevent your lipstick bleeding and for lining your eyes to make them look brighter. I only use it for the latter and it really does brighten things up. Truth time: I absolutely hate lining my waterline. Even though I got into makeup very early, I've always hated it and have subsequently avoided it for ages. It makes my eyes water like nothing else and I'm generally just a bit of a baby about it. However this really does make such a difference to the appearance of my eyes that I'm giving it another try. It's got a great, creamy formula so it doesn't tug at the eye and the shade is great for making everything look brighter and fresher. You know it's a good 'un when I'm putting my differences with eyeliner aside!

Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Curviest Caramel - This is kind of the ultimate "my lips but better" shade for me. It's a super pretty, browny-pink nude that I think would look flattering on a lot of people. The formula is super pigmented and creamy - it's an all round great product! This is another one of those products where whenever I use it I wonder why I've been neglecting it for so long. Really I'm just such a floozy with lip products that I change them up very often and forget to use a lot of them! I'm sticking this back in my handbag for now and I'm really looking forward to using it more!

So there we have it, another installment of me shopping my stash! I love doing these kinds of posts because I always rediscover old favourites and switch up my makeup routine a bit. On the flip-side it does make me realise that I should definitely downsize my stash -  I think a spring clear-out is on the cards!

  1. Wow this is such a good idea! I usually am so quick to just throw it out but why not shop from it if the product is still good! I need to remember this post!

  2. I always try to go back to some older makeup products that I haven't used in a while in order to save some money. However I haven't tried out any KIKO products yet and the eyeshadow sticks are on the top of my list ;)

  3. I love rediscovering products in my collection. I receive so many products from brands and also purchase a fair amount myself, especially around Sephora VIB sales, that I just kind of forget about older products! I always make it a point to go through my stash every few months to rediscover products in my collection and get rid of anything that has either gone bad or I just don't use anymore. It's always nice to feel like you have control over your collection! xx

  6. How did you find the lasting power of the clinique chubby stick - this and their blushes are two things I've wanted to try for a while now!

    1. The lasting power of the Clinique Chubby Stick isn't the best but that's because it's quite a creamy formula. I would say it'll last a good few hours though if you don't eat or drink much! I really want to try their blushes too! xo
