The Illuminators: 3 For Glowy Skin

The Illuminators: 3 for Glowy Skin, glowy skin products, illuminating primer, highlight, dior glow maximiser, mac strobe cream, nars orgasm illuminator, review

It's no secret that I've been chasing a bit of glow these last few months and trying to add some life back into my skin. Now that it's spring I've been upping my game and I've been looking for an extra glow boost that isn't just my usual highlight. As a result, I have a newfound love for illuminators and three in particular have been pretty fab in helping refresh my spring makeup. I use each of these three in a different way (although not at the same time - hello discoball) so I thought I'd give you the lowdown on these newbies, since I'm kinda obsessed with them.

Dior Glow Maximiser Light Boosting Primer - I picked this up on my recent trip to the mountains, where I managed to snag this for half price. Needless to say I was chuffed and started using it at the next opportunity! This is basically a makeup primer that has some serious sheen to it along with light reflecting particles. When I first put this on my hand I thought it looked a little too pink-toned, but it transforms into a gorgeous golden shade on the skin and creates the perfect base for your makeup. Not only does this give you the most gorgeous glow, even from underneath your foundation, but it also glues your makeup to your skin. Seriously, my makeup usually melts off halfway through the day, and this kept things in place and looking glowy. Can you tell I'm obsessed?

MAC Strobe Cream - This is a Vivianna Does Makeup inspired purchase - one of many! - because after I saw her raving about the glow this gives your skin, I knew I had to have it. This is basically a thick white cream that doesn't have even a hint of glitter to it, it's pure sheen. I bought the mini version of this because you need so little of this that even the travel size will last you yonks! The first few times I used this, I was a little too enthusiastic and added a sizeable glob to my foundation and within an hour I looked like an oil slick. The trick is to use a tiny bit and mix it in with your foundation and used like that it looks seriously gorgeous. I gave this to my sister to try recently because she wanted her base to look a little less flat, and this worked wonders on her too. A fab little product that'll definitely be used a lot during the warmer months!

NARS Orgasm Illuminator - I got this with a NARS order I made at the end of last year, so this is only a travel size, but as with the Strobe Cream, there's enough there to last a long time! This is a product I reserve for a night out, because although this is very pretty it is most definitely not subtle. It's a pinky/rose gold cream illuminator you can use to highlight the high points of your face and has a pretty metallic, glittery finish. I know it looks way too intense in colour to be used as a highlight, but when blended out properly, it leaves a pretty, golden/champagney finish. A lovely one for some proper glow!

I may well have said "glow" about twenty times in this post, but these products really are amazing for just that! As someone with skin that can tend to be dry and look a little lacklustre, I always love finding products that really give my makeup a boost and make everything look a lot sheenier and healthier! What are some of your favourite products to get a glow?
