L'Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation | Review

It's been a while since I saw as much hype around a drugstore foundation as I did with the L'Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation. I put off buying it for a while because despite some of the rave reviews it was getting, I was very skeptical. As per usual my curiosity got the better of me and I gave in and purchased it. I've been using this almost every day since I got it, so I thought I'd share my thoughts on it!

First off, if you've heard nothing about this foundation, it's slightly different to the rest because of the whole "cushion" concept. Basically this product is encased in a circular plastic compact with a little lid that you lift up to reveal a small sponge soaked with foundation. The compact is sold with a little spongey puff that sits on top of the lid covering the foundation.

In terms of application, I ignored the little puff and went straight in with a beauty blender. It did feel slightly odd going into a sponge with a sponge, but I was able to pick up a good amount of product right away. The consistency of this foundation is very light and very sheer. It's marketed as a "dewy glow foundation" and that's what it delivered, a very dewy and glowy finish that looked super natural. As it is so sheer, it didn't quite cover everything, so if you're looking for something to conceal all your blemishes this might not be the one, but the lightness of the formula does mean that you avoid your foundation looking cakey. I set it with powder whenever I used it and it wore well throughout the day without looking dry or patchy.

I think this is generally a great foundation for people with drier skin, it's so dewy and glowy and doesn't cling to dry patches at all. If your skin is combination (like mine) or slightly on the oilier side, I'd say be wary and do use a bit of powder to prevent things getting a little too dewy. If you're after a light summer base then I'd say that this is your guy. Between the natural finish and the SPF 29, you're pretty much set!

All in all I'm really impressed with this foundation, especially since I really wasn't expecting much at all. I'm also quite curious to see how long this lasts, because I can't really see a tiny cushion housing enough foundation for a few months but we shall see! Have you tried the Lumi Cushion Foundation? Let me know below!

  5. I'm on the fence about trying this because I have dry skin and love glowy foundations, but I also prefer a heavier coverage and I'm worried about the cushion drying out! Maybe if it's on sale I'll give it a go haha x
