Mario Badescu Drying Lotion | Review

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion | Review, does the mario badescu drying lotion work, acne treatment, spot treatment, review, troves and roses

I feel like I've seen the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion pop up everywhere in the blogosphere the last month or so. I first saw it on Kylie Jenner's Snapchat story way back when and for some reason I haven't been able to get it out of my head since. I stumbled across this in Urban Outfitters when I was in London a few weeks ago and made a beeline for it. When I spoke about this in my haul post and subsequent skincare post last week, a lot of you seemed keen on hearing a bit more about it! I've been using it pretty much every night since and I think I've formed enough of an opinion on it to let you know some of my thoughts!

If you're not familiar with this product, it's basically a topical acne treatment that you apply over the top of your usual skincare once you're done with your routine. It's kind of a bi-phase product in that there's a clear layer of liquid on top and pink sediment settled at the bottom of the bottle. With this kind of bi-phase deal I immediately assumed that you shook it up, dipped in a q-tip and applied that to blemishes. It wasn't until I was writing up my haul post that I actually read the back and realised that you're not supposed to shake it, only dip a q-tip in the pink sediment at the bottom of the product. Always read the instructions, kids!

So as I mentioned, I just apply this using a q-tip. I do my skincare routine as per usual and after applying moisturiser, I dot the product on any blemishes. It dries down almost immediately after application and therefore stays put for quite a while. You do end up looking slightly like a child who's got chickenpox treatment on their face, but hey, beauty's got a price! If your blemishes are open or irritated (you're not supposed to apply this onto broken skin, but I have done so accidentally) this may burn slightly upon application. Beyond that, there's nothing much other than a cooling sensation.

One thing I will mention that I initially didn't particularly love about this product is that the first ingredient is Isopropyl Alcohol. My skin is usually quite sensitive to alcohol in skincare so I tend to be wary of it being the first ingredient in something. Nonetheless, my skin hasn't seemed to react to it at all. When I apply this I find that my blemishes are significantly reduced and don't seem to fully develop as much as they would if I didn't use the Drying Lotion. I've been so impressed with the results and now it's one of the first things I reach for when I see a blemish starting. If you're acne prone or suffer from the occasional breakout, I'd really recommend trying this. It is on the pricy side but it won't break the bank and I feel like it's going to last me a long while as well!

All in all, I'm super impressed with this product and I'm really glad I picked it up. I don't tend to try as many new skincare bits now as I used to, so I'm very pleased that it's worked out so well! Have you tried the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion or do you want to? Let me know below!
