Best in Bronze

Best in Bronze, bronze makeup products, hoola benefit, sleek precious metals highlighting palette, catrice matt bronzing powder, kiko long lasting stick eyeshadow 06, maybelline colour tattoo on and on bronze, jouer long wear lip crème pamplemousse, review, bronzer

As soon as the sun starts peeking out from in between the clouds, I start cracking out the bronzer in a very real way. Whilst my body tans fairly quickly, my face likes to remain a similar, glowing pale shade pretty much all year round, so bronzer is something I take very seriously during the warmer months. My mild obsession with bronze isn't, however, restricted to just making me look more tanned. I think there's something really pretty about bronze tones in makeup during summer, be it on the skin, lids or lips. As I've been reaching for a whole array of bronzey bits these last few weeks, I thought I'd round up some of my faves today! Also: apologies in advance for severely overusing the word "bronze".

Catrice Sun Glow Matt Bronzing Powder 030 Medium Bronze - I absolutely love Catrice for good quality, affordable makeup. This may just be one of my all-time favourite bronzers; I wore it almost every day last summer and took it on pretty much every holiday I went on. It's completely matte, which tends to be my preferred formula in terms of bronzer, and gives the skin a lovely warm glow. It's also super pigmented, so a little goes a long way! If you're after a matte bronzer that's flattering, blendable and won't break the bank, then definitely give this one a go!

Sleek Precious Metals Highlighting Palette | full review - Whilst almost all the shades in this pretty little palette are a thing of beauty, there's one in particular that I've been gravitating towards lately. It is, unsurprisingly, the bronzey shade (bottom right pan in the above photo) called Antique Bronze. This is the first bronze highlight I ever tried and I was dubious at best, but when used with a light hand this gives your cheekbones such a lovely sheen. This paired with a bronzed up complexion leaves you looking like you're rocking a natural tan, which is definitely something I'm after!

KIKO Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in 06 - I'm pretty sure half the beauty blogging world has raved about these at some point, but if you're not familiar with KIKO's eyeshadow sticks, they're basically super pigmented, long lasting cream eyeshadows. Once you apply this you'd best have your blending brush at the ready, because once this dries down it really dries down and it ain't going anywhere! So apply and blend, blend, blend! This is a very pretty golden-bronze shade with quite a bit of shimmer to it. It's a shade that'll really make blue eyes pop and work with a lot of different makeup looks. That and it's just so affordable!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in On-and-On Bronze - This is essentially the KIKO 06 eyeshadow stick's more taupe, slightly less shimmery sister. It's just as creamy and just as pigmented but I find it ever so slightly easier to blend. On days where I really can't be bothered with eyeshadow at all, this is the product I reach for. It's a great lid shade that you can just blend out into the crease to make it look like you've out in more effort when you've really just dunked your finger into the pot and dabbed it onto your lids. Pretty much my kind of product!

Benefit Hoola Lipgloss - To be perfectly honest, this is more of a nude gloss than a bronze one, but there is some slightly bronzey shimmer to it and I think it looks really nice with a tan, so I've chucked it in here anyway! I only have a little one of these that I got in a Benefit set a little while back, but it's definitely a product I've reached for a lot. I'm really not a lipgloss person so when I find a gloss I do like, it ends up getting used quite a bit. This really feels more like a balm than anything else and it leaves your lips with a nice sheen, nothing over the top, with the slightest hint of a nude tint. It's not drying and it's a really great one to throw in your handbag for the summer months.

Jouer Long Wear Lip Crème in Pamplemousse - I'm aware that this won't be a product for everyone, as I feel like the metallic lipstick trend has been slightly polarising; some people love it and some don't want to go near it. I belong to the former category and I've really been liking trying out these new lipstick formulas and seeing how to make them work. This is a pinky bronze liquid lipstick that looks really great with a tan and a bit of highlight. It's very pigmented, not too drying and it stays put throughout the day without transferring shimmer. As it is a bit of a bolder choice, I tend to make sure that aside from bronzer and highlight, there's relatively little going on with the rest of my makeup so that this lipstick really is the main event. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it really is a gorgeous shade!

So there we have it, my favourite bronzey bits for the summer months! I know that things like bronzey eyes tend to be associated more with the colder months, but I think they also look great when you're sporting a bit of a summer glow. What are some of your favourite bronze makeup products? Would you try metallic lipstick? Let me know below!

  1. I love the Hoola range from benefit, as well as solar powder from soap and glory. Revolution do a really great highlighting palette too with some bronze shades!

  2. Maybelline colour tattoos are great! I don't have 'On-and-on Bronze' yet but I really want to get it :)

  3. I'm loving bronze eyes at the moment! Hoola is one of my favorite bronzers, I didn't know they made a lip gloss inspired by it x
