Colourpop X Kathleenlights | Review

If you saw my (very) recent Colourpop haul post, you'll know that I went a little crazy on their website again. You'll also know that I have a mild obsession with Kathleenlights and therefore bought the whole of her recent collab with Colourpop. I already went into the bits available in the collab in the haul post, but skimmed over all the products and did't give much detail at all. In the last week I've been wearing the products a whole lot, so I really wanted to write a more detailed review of the collection in case any of you were thinking about buying a thing or two.

The collection consists of three Ultra Satin Lipsticks, a Crème Gel Colour and a Crème Gel Liner. So without further ado, here are my full thoughts and reviews of all the products!

Ultra Satin Lip November - This colour is so incredibly un-me. I'm a diehard fan of brown toned lipsticks. I love me some browny nudes, grungey greys and straight up chocolate browns. Despite that, this was the colour that made me want to buy the products in this collab. When I watched the video where Kathleen swatched all the lipsticks, this one just looked so gorgeous that I decided I had to have it. It's a really pretty rosy pink that manages to be very wearable, whilst also really perking up your complexion. When I wear this I tend to do a simple eye look so the attention is on the lipstick. The Ultra Satin Lip formula is sort of like a matte lip cream; it has a bit of a dry-down but it does still transfer. It's long lasting, but not as much as the Ultra Matte Lips and not as drying.

Ultra Satin Lip Alyssa - I really assumed that this would just be your bog-standard mauve shade (which I still love) but this is actually pretty different to the mauves I already own. It's much more pink and more dusky than a straight up mauve, but it's still definitely a nude. I love this paired with a neutral wash of colour on the lids. Very simple but super pretty.

Ultra Satin Lip Point Zero - If I'm honest, I really didn't need another brown lipstick. I own so many, and this one isn't that different from the ones I own. It is, however, a different formula, so that's how I've decided to justify the purchase. If you're a fan of the grungey, brown lip then you'll probably like this. It's not too warm toned so it looks really flattering on the lips. I like wearing this with a warm-toned eye to really amp up the grunge. It lasts well throughout the day and doesn't dry my lips out as much as my other brown liquid lipsticks.

Crème Gel Colour Mr. Bing - I've been absolutely loving this liner. I've been using it with the angled brush pictured, to create a little wing and it's so pigmented. The shade of this definitely isn't your average brown; it's very warm-toned and you can really see that there's something different about your eye-makeup. This also lasts so well and is a bit of a faff to remove in the evening! That does, however, mean that it stays put during the day, doesn't crumble and doesn't smudge. I use this with a bit of nude eyeshadow and lashings of mascara.

Crème Gel Liner Mr. Bing - If you've got one of these, you really don't need the other, but hey ho, I got both. I tend to use the actual liner pencil to draw along my upper lash line and then gel colour to create the flick. The warm-toned shade of this really brings out your eyes and when I was sporting this recently, someone asked me if I had coloured contacts in. If that's not a lovely compliment and proof of how fab this liner is, then I don't know what is!

From top to bottom: Alyssa, Point Zero, November, Mr. Bing Gel Liner, Mr. Bing Gel Colour.

(Please excuse the haphazard swatches, I was drawing inspiration from one of my favourite bloggers, Beauty by Kelsey, and it's safe to say, that it's not as easy as it looks!)

So there we have it, a full review of all the products, a bit of ramble and a few swatches. I hope that this post wasn't made redundant by the haul, but I always like reading more in-depth posts about how people got on with the products post-haul. If you've been considering getting any of the bits from this collection then I highly recommend doing so. There isn't one dud in there! Have you bought anything from the Colourpop collabs before? Let me know! Happy Friday!

  6. There's nothing wrong with another brown lips in the collection, I'm sure they're actually different under different light ;) I actually love how November looks like, and, Kudos for the swatch! It's really great!
