Life Lately | Graduation Goggles, Interning and Bleach

I had a completely different post planned for today but I thought sod it, I'm going to sit down and have a little chat. I haven't done one of these catch up posts for ages, but today I'm feeling somewhat sentimental and soppy, so what better day, eh?

The main reason for me wanting to write this post is because I graduate from uni today. My graduation isn't until the end of the day, so I'm still faffing over my outfit, my hair, my makeup and all that jazz. It's weird because I didn't particularly enjoy my university experience. Whilst most of the people around me jetted off to England and the States, I stayed in Switzerland, studying at a Swiss uni in a language that wasn't my first. I still lived at home at travelled two hours one way and then two hours back on a daily basis. Not the rockin' experience I had imagined.

I found my footing and made some lovely friends, but the whole commuting and uni experience really wasn't my thing, so I was chuffed when I finally handed in my dissertation. Which is why it's so weird that I'm so emosh about graduating today! Somehow, despite my knowing better, the whole thing currently has a fond, rosy haze surrounding it. I believe it was "How I Met Your Mother" that dubbed this phenomenon "graduation goggles". It's the end, it's emotional and you end up seeing only the good, feeling nostalgic and forgetting all the crappy bits. Nonetheless, I'm really looking forward to celebrating this milestone with my friends and family and being a bunch of saps this evening!

Something I think I've mentioned around these parts before, is that I'm currently interning at a newspaper. I work in the lifestyle department and I essentially get to do for work what I do for fun, which is research and write articles about beauty, fashion and lots more. It's so much fun for me and I'm so grateful that I get to do something I like so much for work!

I am, however, still getting into the swing of things. I get to go to a fair few media events and press days for product launches and whatnot and I'm not always the smoothest of people. The other day I was at a beauty event and whilst standing around, trying to blend in amongst some pretty big media moguls I walked (backwards) into a (large) bin and knocked it over, so, y'know, still figuring out how to be profesh and not knock things over.

As I've been immersed in so much beauty and fashion lately, I've really started getting more into clothes and switching up my look a bit. Something I've wanted to do for ages is dye my hair. For a while I toyed with the idea of going silver, but now I think I just want to bleach it a white-ish blonde. I made the mistake of reading an article about a girl whose scalp completely burned and scabbed over because of the bleach and now I'm terrified. I do, however, still really want cool hair, so I'm weighing up my options.

The most I've ever done to my hair in terms of colouring, is some balayage I had put in a few months ago, so I'm a complete rookie in this department. A scared one at that. I also don't fancy my hair falling out. If you have any advice/experience on bleaching your hair, please help a gal out and leave it in the comments! If I read one more article about bleach burns, I may cry.

Well this has been a very long-winded ramble! Hopefully it hasn't been too dull, despite me going off on quite a tangent. If you've made it this far down the post, then big props to you! I'm off to drink some more tea and lounge around before I start getting ready for this afternoon! I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Happy Friday!

Don't forget to follow along!
