Seven High-End Products worth the Splurge

As a self-confessed beauty addict, I'm no stranger to shelling out a pretty penny for fancy makeup - even if it does mean eating noodles for a week straight to compensate. It's all about the priorities. If you're anything like me when it comes to hoarding makeup, chances are you've encountered a situation where you spent a lot of money on a product that was just "meh". Pretty tragic when you've sacrificed your next seven dinners for it. In light of that, I thought I'd round up seven high-end beauty bits that were well worth the splurge (and the noodle-eating).

Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette - I know what you're thinking. "Is she ever going to shut up about this palette?!" No, probs not. When it comes to luxury purchases, this one is pretty fancy. Over £40 for a palette is not cheap, but this palette has honestly been so worth it. My usual "but I don't have anything like this" justification has never rung more true because I really don't! Pigmentation, blendability, longevity - it's all there and it's all fab.

Dior Glow Maximiser - I found this for half price when I was in the mountains at the beginning of the year and I honestly wish I'd grabbed two, because I don't think I can quite afford to repurchase this! For a gal who usually slaps a bit of the Nivea Men Post-Shave Balm (which is an amazing primer) on her face, this sure is a little on the fancy side! As you probably expected, however, it's so worth it. This not only gives your base a killer luminosity, but it glues your makeup to your face. Expensive, yes, but probably the best primer I've ever tried.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anita - I love the NARS Audacious lipstick formula. It's creamy, it's pigmented and because it's more demi-matte than matte, it's not too drying. The shade lineup in this range is gorgeous but this is probably my favourite. It's a lovely everyday nude that still has something interesting to it, so it's not just a drab lip shade. Also the packaging is magnetic, which pretty much has me sold anyway.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella - This is another of NARS' formulas I really like. It's definitely a proper matte and it stays put once applied. It doesn't bleed and the pigmentation is awesome. This is one of those lovely autumnal red shades to wear with nudey eyes.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders - I know I've stuck the Ambient Lighting Edit in here, which isn't available anymore, but I'm talking about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders in general. As I have so many in the palette, I've never had to buy any others so far, so it's in there for photography purposes! If you like setting your makeup, but hate looking overly matte or flat, try these powders. Dim Light is a gorgeous one to set your base and leaves you with a healthy glow. The blushes are great too, I like mixing them together for a natural, rosy-pink shade.

Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Cologne - I'm pretty sure I love most Jo Malone fragrances, but this is the one I've stayed loyal to for about three years now. The bottle in the photo is actually my second or third and it's completely empty. Once my bank balance allows me to repurchase I'll either re-buy or perhaps venture out and try a new one (wild). This particular fragrance is really fresh, with a tiny bit of sweetness and a nice, almost manly undertone. Does anyone know what I'm on about? No? Let's move on.

Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in Bronzed - When I first swatched this I thought it looked way too dark and wasn't entirely sure, but in the end it won me over. Okay, fine, the adorable packaging won me over. But once I started using it (with a very light hand), I was smitten. First off, it's really blendable, which is v. important for any bronzer. Secondly it gives you a lovely, natural finish, kind of like you've caught some sun on holiday, and lasts really well throughout the day. Highly recommend!

I hope this has been somewhat helpful for those of you looking to invest in some high-end makeup, but unsure of what's really worth the price tag! Although I regularly trawl the drugstore in search of new gems and use a bevy of affordable products every time I do my makeup, sometimes it's nice to treat yourself to something a bit more luxe. Do you like high-end makeup? What are some of your favourites?
