Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette | Review & Swatches

Most people have probably heard of the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette by now. Gorgeous shades with great quality, affordable price tag and notoriously hard to get ahold of. I'd been trying to get my hands on this for around a year to no avail. I ended up ordering it online when I got an email about a restock and I haven't looked back since. I thought I'd review this in full today but spoiler alert: I absolutely love it.

So the palette features four highlighting shades, one cream formula and three powder formula. The products are housed in a gold metal compact, which features a brush (which looks suspiciously scratchy and has therefore remained unused by me) and a nicely sized mirror. It's sturdy and looks pretty fancy for a drugstore palette.

Clockwise from top left: Ecliptic, Hemisphere, Equinox and Subsolar.

So here's a rundown of the four shades:

Subsolar - Yellowy, shimmer (powder): For anyone who fancies a glowy highlight, but doesn't want to be seen from outer space, this is a lovely shade to try. Yes, it's still got that fab pigmentation and some serious glow, but it's not quite as intense as some of the other offerings in here. A more natural looking option that wears beautifully.

Ecliptic - Golden brown (cream): I'm not a fan of cream highlights, but the shade of this is absolutely stunning. I can't fault the formula, it's creamy, pigmented and all-round gorgeous. Another one that is on the slightly more subtle side of things.

Hemisphere - Purple shimmer (powder): This is lovely shade for those who like that whole "alien babe"/mermaid glow. This doesn't actually make your cheekbones look very obviously purple, but it does add a little something extra to your makeup look, which I personally think looks really cool. This is intense stuff though, so I'd use a light hand!

Equinox - Peachy shimmer (powder): If, unlike the first powder, you really do want your cheekbones to be visible from space, well then this is your guy. This is probably the most intense highlighter I've ever used. The first time I applied it, I ended up with a luminescent stripe across my cheekbone. So as with the last one, use a light hand and blend blend blend! I'd say this does emphasise pores ever so slightly, but as long as you don't over apply it, it's really no biggie.

From top to bottom: Equinox, Hemisphere, Ecliptic and Subsolar.

I love all the shades, but I do think that Equinox is somewhat the star of the glow show. The cream formula is on par with high end formulas I've tried and the powders are all buttery, pigmented and last well throughout the day. For under a tenner, I really can't complain! Highly, highly recommend.

If, like me, you fancy picking this up, I'd recommend buying through Feel Unique and if it's sold out, signing up for the email notification that'll let you know when they get it back in stock. That's how I finally managed to get my hands on my one! Have you tried this palette? What did you think? Let me know!

  2. Hemisphere is the most attractive shade for me, it's purple but I think it's really pretty, alien-glow aside. I'm glad reading that you found it pretty ;)
