Empties #4

Can you tell I recently decided to get my crap together and throw out all my used up/old/gross foundations? Ditto for concealers, I tend to just buy new ones once scraping the sides becomes too tedious a pastime and leave them buried in the depths of my drawers. So, in light of that, here's the fourth instalment of me saving my trash, showing it to you and telling you my thoughts!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation - I love this! I feel like I'm on an ongoing search for a foundation that doesn't make my skin look crap and so far, this is the best one I've found. It's lightweight, hydrating and doesn't look heavy on the face. Have already repurchased two because I couldn't find my exact shade. I should also point out that I have no idea what my exact shade is, so neither one could actually be right. The foundation itself is fab though!

L'Oreal Perfect Match Foundation - You can tell how old this is because this isn't even in the new packaging. Ew. This ran out a while ago and I just kind of forgot about it, but honestly, I was never that fussed about this foundation. It tended to look slightly cakey on me right away so I wan't a fan. They have, however, since reformulated it, if I'm not mistaken! Not one I'll be repurchasing for now though.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation - I've been buying this foundation for years and already have a new (albeit completely wrong-coloured) bottle of this. This is also in the old packaging - don't judge! It has a lot more coverage than the Bourjois but isn't too matte and doesn't go cakey.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation - The matte cousin of the Match Perfection. I'd say this is more suited to oilier skin-types (hi) as it lasts well as the day goes on and prevents that midday (or sometimes mid-morning) oil slick look. I shall repurchase this whenever I'm next in the UK!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Times two. I don't even know how many of these I've bought. I've gone through so many and I keep repurchasing them because they're just very solid for the price you pay. Are there better concealers out there? Maybe. Am I willing to spend lots and end up with a pile of concealers I potentially hate to find out? Noo. This is a trusty oldie that I can rely on to cover up blemishes but have had to accept is just a bit too creasey for under the eyes. I currently still have some of these lying around in my drawers and will most likely buy more whenever I go to the UK.

Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer - This is the concealer that I use under my eyes (and on blemishes, if I'm feeling lazy). I like it a lot and have already repurchased. It does a good job although it is heavily fragranced for some reason. Truth be told, this still creases on my under-eyes, but I'm slowly growing convinced of the fact that I'm prematurely ageing and just have deep set wrinkles at 23, that all concealers will sink into. Do they do under-eye botox?

Maybelline Brow Artist Plumper - I've featured this so many times on the blog and lo and behold, this is, once again, some very old packaging. It took me a while to get through! I've since picked up another and I'm still convinced it's one of the best brow gels ever. You only need a bit and it'll fill sparse areas, add fullness because it has little fibres in it and fix your brows in place all day. Highly recommend for unruly-browed gals like me!

Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil - Unlike brow gel, I go through brow pencils at a ridiculously fast pace. I like this one because it's really affordable and the shade is a great match for my brows. I actually bought the (far pricier) Urban Decay version (which I'll get to afterwards) as a replacement because I couldn't get Soap & Glory in Zurich. I thought I liked the Soap & Glory better, until I went back to it post-UD and was underwhelmed. I then repurchased the Urban Decay and I kinda like that a bit better now. The two really aren't that different though, and if I had Soap & Glory available to me where I am, I'd probably go for that. Gotta save that money.

Urban Decay Brow Beater - As I just mentioned (/rambled), I like this a lot and I've already repurchased it. The shade is near identical to the Soap & Glory brow pencil and I'd say the formula is just a tiny bit more pigmented. I also think that this might last just a bit better throughout the day. Alas, at a price. This stuff is expensive and I go through it really fast. Any affordable brow pencil suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Benefit They're Real! Mascara - Another one I've used a whole lot of. This is only a tiny travel mini I got in a Benefit set I purchased a while ago. I've been a fan of this mascara for absolutely ages. It lengthens my lashes in a non-clumpy way, plus it lasts well without the hassle of it being a waterproof formula, which usually results in me practically having to scrape it off my eyelashes at the end of the day. Will probably repurchase when I'm next in the UK.

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ - I spoke about this in my favourites last week and now all it does is spit Fix+ very selectively at my face, which I'm interpreting as it being done. It's basically a great one for those days where you look in the mirror after finishing your makeup and things just look a little too cakey/matte/flat and you want to perk your complexion back up a little. A few spritzes and you're good to go. I may repurchase this, but I also kind of want to try the Urban Decay setting sprays, as I hear good things.

REN Clarimatte Clarifying Toning Lotion - I've been using this for years, so this is just another one of the bottles of it I've used up. It's a great one for keeping my oiliness in check and somewhat controlling breakouts. It's so expensive here compared to the UK I could cry, but for some reason I keep repurchasing it. So yes, I will probably repurchase this once my bank balance allows it.

I'm never quite sure if these empties posts aren't just really long and dull. Are these something you guys enjoy reading? Also r.e. concealers that won't crease and eyebrow pencils, please let me know if you have any affordable ones you love! Have a lovely weekend and happy Friday!

Don't forget to follow along!
