Shopping my Stash #3

The last few months have felt like an high-intensity spending marathon. Whether it be shoes, clothes or beauty, I was making a whole lot of "investments", which I justified by not getting a Starbucks one week. Like once. I've now put myself on a spending ban of sorts (we'll see how long I manage to keep that up for *self side-eye*) so all beauty purchases for the next while will have to be from my beauty stash. For free. Basically instead of shopping the isles of the drugstore or pricey beauty counters, I'm turning to my over-stuffed beauty drawers and pulling out bits and pieces that I've forgotten about, haven't used as much as I should have or (shamefully) just haven't used at all. Here we go!

Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paint in Stripped Down - I was pretty chuffed when I first picked this up, but as with many of my beauty products, it quickly drowned in a sea of lipstick. I have however, pulled it back out and I have to say that it's a pretty fab product. It's a gorgeous nude shade with great opacity for a very affordable price.

L'Oreal Color Riche L'Ombre Pure in Gold Mania - I was drawn in by the beautiful wave design and the shininess. The pigmentation is really impressive and a gold eyeshadow for the colder months doesn't really go amiss, does it?

Essence Strobing Highlighter - I bought this out of sheer curiousity and proceeded to not use it at all. I'm still not sure about this one, to be honest. It's not all that highlight-y and there seems to be a whole lot of shimmer and not quite enough of my much preferred sheen in there. Jury's still out on this one!

Soap & Glory Peach Party Blush Brick - I feel like most bloggers have this tucked away in their drawers somewhere. This is another one that lured me in with the sparkle and when you swatch this, it looks so pretty that you kind of just want to put it all over your face. On the flip side, I'm hesitant to use something so intense as a blush. Applied with a light hand this does look kind of beautiful, though.

Yves Saint Laurent Vinyl Cream Lip Stain in 401 - When I first got this I was super excited about it, swatched it loads, wore it at home, marvelled at the pigmentation and then chickened out when faced with the prospect of wearing a glossy red lip out of the house. Think of the smudges! Well now I've cracked this out and I plan on wearing it now that autumn has fully settled in. It's too pretty to leave at the back of my lip product drawer! Also I love the smell of YSL lip products. I know it's a very polarising one, but I think it's amazing. Another bonus!

So there we go, a peruse through the isles of by beauty collection. I like doing posts like this every now and again because it makes me go through my drawers and dig up older (or sometimes pretty new!) bits that I didn't properly give a go or just straight-up forgot about. I'm definitely chuffed with my "finds". Do you rotate your beauty stash?

Don't forget to follow along!

  1. I tried to put myself on a no buy but that quickly turned into a low buy. But that's still progress, right? Shopping your stash is such a great idea! That soap & glory blush looks so beautiful and that l'oreal eyeshadow looks perfect for this time of year :)

  2. The Essence highlighter is definitely something I want to get my hands on

  3. I've just recently put myself on a ban of beauty products. I recently cleaned out my stash, so now I'm trying to use up what I have before I buy any more items. I love the idea of this post!

  4. I'm obsessed with Stripped Down, it's such a good fall color! I recently shopped my stash as well and I'm thinking about a spending ban x

  5. Hahaha! You sound exactly like me when it comes to spending! I've been trying to do this recently - pulling out products I've forgotten and it has been really helpful in deciding which items are worth keeping and which I need to throw away or give to someone who'll get better use!
