Clinique Pep-Start Range

Well isn't this just the prettiest darn skincare collection ever? As a bit of a skincare junkie, I can definitely say that it's nice to see a pop of colour in my mirror cabinet every now and again! The Clinique Pep-Start range not only delivers colour, but a whole lotta skincare gems too! I attended the launch event through work a little while ago and was able to get the products in the range to test out, so I thought I'd run you through the products and share my thoughts!

Cleansing Wipes* - These are the first cleansing wipes I've ever featured on my blog. I'll be honest, I'm just not a cleansing wipes kinda gal. The alcohol they often contain doesn't bode well with my sensitive skin and I prefer to avoid them if I can. However, if you are a fan of makeup wipes, these are a great option. They contain a good amount of product, remove eye makeup in a few quick swipes and you get a fair few per pack!

Exfoliating Cleanser* - Whilst I tend to reach for acid exfoliators more regularly, I do sometimes prefer to properly exfoliate my skin using a manual facial scrub. Scrub is too harsh a word for this product as the beads are absolutely tiny, to the point where it pretty much just looks like a cleanser when you squeeze it out of the tube. It's gentle and unfragranced - both things that bode well for sensitive-skinned gals!

Hydroblur Moisturiser* - This is probably the product out of the bunch that I was most intrigued by. It's marketed as a hydrating moisturiser that mattifies and can be used under or on top of makeup to keep things looking shine-free. Sounds pretty cool in my books. I haven't tried using this over foundation but used under it as a primer, you really do get great results. It creates a lovely base for makeup and reduces the appearances of pores. It's a light moisturiser that I think provides enough hydration for combo to oily skin types. Definitely an interesting one to check out!

Hydro Rush SPF 20 Moisturiser* - It's so so so important to make sure you're using SPF on your skin when you're out and about (something I'm still learning to be diligent with), so I love that Clinique included this in the range. I find it difficult to find an SPF that doesn't leave my face horrifically greasy and spot-prone, so I'm grateful when there are new additions to the sun protection skincare game. The first thing I noted about this, is how light it is. It's not oily or greasy and it doesn't leave you feeling like you have a heavy film on your skin. I think it'll make a great under-foundation SPF option, that won't leave you with makeup melting off your face.

Eye Cream* - Of the whole bunch, this is the product I've used the most. I've whined about my dry under-eye area on many an occasion around these parts. Turns out creasy concealer and dehydration wrinkles aren't a great look. When I started using this, it was a bit of a game changer. I'm wary of eye creams as I've tried a few that have really irritated my eyes or just straight up burned (why???), so this has been a bit of a hero product for me! My concealer doesn't crease as much and doesn't cake up around my eyes anymore. In short I'm super chuffed and would highly recommend this for younger skin, as it doesn't provide the intense moisturisation of more heavy duty eye creams, but packs a serious hydration punch and doesn't break the bank!

Overall, I'm seriously impressed with this range. It's a bit of a different direction for Clinique and a step back from their usual classical packaging and marketing. I do think that this range is one for slightly younger skin (that's also the group Clinique is targeting with this launch) and I think it's a great way to get into slightly higher end skincare, without spending an exorbitant amount of money. Plus, the packaging is just so pretty, especially with this gloomy weather! Have you tried anything from this range? Is there a product you want to pick up?

  1. Is it bad that I want to try these because they look so pretty? They do sound great, especially the Hydroblur.
