Short Haul Travel Essentials

So tomorrow I'm off to London for a long weekend! I don't get to visit the UK nearly as much as I'd like so I'm very much looking forward to my four-day jaunt. Something I'm not as fond of: travel. I'm a nervous flyer and an all-round worrier. I do, however, find that if I'm well prepared enough, that alone takes a big weight off my shoulders. Today I thought I'd run you through the bits I'll be bringing with me in my carry-on bag for the short haul flight!

Aesop Resurrection Rise Free Hand Wash - Right, let's get this one out the way, because it's copped up far too often around these parts the last few weeks. It's a great hand sanitizer and one that doesn't have quite as much of an alcohol-y smell. Planes are gross and the lack of running water makes hand sanitizer a great travel buddy. Also the packaging is real pretty. Moving on!

Carmex Lip Balm - This landed on my desk at work recently, with limited edition packaging and for some reason I'm kind of obsessed with it. I haven't owned the original Carmex for years, but I've really been liking using it again! Planes equal dry air, skin and lips, so I like to have a nourishing balm on hand.

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector - In case I want to freshen up before I leave the plane and apply something with a bit of tint, this is my go-to product. I have these in a variety of shades are they're a great gloss for people who aren't really "lipgloss people". It's not sticky, you can apply it without a mirror and leaves your lips feeling hydrated.

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream - Honestly, I'm kinda just chucking this in my carry-on because it's tiny and adorable. I got this at the Clinique event I went to and since I've been loving the original cream, I figured I may as well take this on the plane with me in case I want to freshen up my under eye area.

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream - I almost always have a small pot of this (which I depot from my big tube of it) somewhere in my handbag. Dry lips? Sore knuckles? Flaking nails? This is your guy. It's not groundbreaking news that this is kind of a do-it-all product, but I think especially when you're travelling and want to keep faff to a minimum, it's great to have one product to cover multiple bases.

Zara Scarf - This doubles as a blanket. It's winter. Planes are Cold. Blankets are cool. The one pictured is from last year but Zara tends to have great scarves every year. I've already bought another big one from Zara this autumn, so I'd recommend having a look. They're really affordable too!

Books/Magazines - Pretty obvious, but because of the whole nervous flyer thing, I tend to think of distraction as a pretty big priority. I usually have a movie on my phone to watch but during take off and landing, when they march through the aisles telling you to put your electronics away, I like cracking out a book or a magazine. Something lighthearted is usually my pick.

So there we have it, my list of carry-on essentials containing three different lip products. What can I say? Priorities. What do you bring with you when you travel? Have a fantastic weekend and happy Friday!

Don't forget to follow along!
