Three Gold Eyeshadows from the Drugstore

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm like a magpie with shimmery eyeshadow. Double that when it's gold. As someone with blue eyes, I can really appreciate a shadow that makes my peepers pop. Now that the festive season is right around the corner, I feel like it's very seasonally appropriate to rock a gold eye, so I've been doing that. Almost every day. I've found some real gold eyeshadow gems in the drugstore lately, so I thought I'd round them up for you today!

L'Oreal Color Riche L'Ombre Pure Eyeshadow in Gold Mania - This has already popped up around these parts a few times this month, and with good reason. The eyeshadow is as good as it looks and it looks pretty beautiful, let's be real. This is the most shimmery of the bunch, and I think it would also look gorgeous used wet for a more foiled finish. Fab pigmentation and good lasting powder, all for a few quid!

Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in Gold Out! - Okay, so I was kind of drawn to this because of the super cute, very minimal packaging. I think these actually look a lot more sleek and high end than my other, more elaborately packaged drugstore shadows, even though it's just transparent plastic casing. That aside, this is such a gorgeous shade. It's definitely more subtle than the L'Oreal, but it's just as pigmented. This looks absolutely gorgeous as a wash of colour on the lids, paired with an autumnal lip.

H&M Beauty High Impact Eye Colour in Ginger Snap - This is an oldie. If you've been around these parts since last year, you'll remember that for months, I wouldn't shut up about H&M beauty. But with good reason! The range I kind of amazing. I used this so much last year and truth be told, I've neglected it a little but now that the colder months have rolled around again, I'm cracking it back out. This is definitely the warmest of the bunch, and therefore the most flattering with my eyes. The pigmentation is absolutely amazing, as is the lasting powder. Also the packaging isn't half bad either!

From left to right: L'Oreal Gold Mania, H&M Ginger Snap and Catrice Gold Out!.
So yes, they may not look all that different in the swatches, but it's the subtle differences and how they look on the lids that matter to a makeup enthusiast like myself (also how I justify having about 20 nude lipsticks that look near identical). Do you like gold eyeshadow? What are some of your favourites from the drugstore?

  1. I love the texture of those L'Oreal shadows! They're so nice. I wish we could get Catrice here, I only ever hear good things. Next time I'm in Europe I'll have to do a serious haul.

  2. I never buy individual eye shadows - only palettes! I think I need to give the L'oreal ones a go. xx

  5. I'm just as crazy about H&M Beauty as you are, it feels like! Especially when it comes to their single eyeshadows, I have 5 in my stash now and I could buy so much more, the quality is just awesome :) Xxx
