December 2016 Beauty Favourites

So here we are, the twelfth and final favourites post of the year is upon us. I made so many new beauty discoveries this year, found lots of new favourites and spent way too much money on makeup. So no changes there! This last month has been a great one for favourites, with all the Christmas sets and my foray into all things Sephora in Rome. As always, I've attempted to keep it somewhat streamlined so that neither of us is sat here for four hours! So without further ado: here's the best in beauty from the month of December.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Screenshot - I know my Colourpop haul went up on Monday, but I've actually been using the products in it since the package arrived a few weeks ago. The lipsticks are always the first beauty bits I lunge for and this particular shade had it's debut at my office Christmas party. It looks gorgeous on the lips and is just one of those really flattering peachy shades. Formula is, as always, on point. Thumbs up.

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Elixir - This shade I've had for a little longer than the lipstick and is the result of a previous Colourpop order (yes, I order from Colourpop a lot). This is a lovely darker orange shade that I've really liked using as a warm transition shade when doing something with more red and orange toned shadows on my lids. These eyeshadows are somewhere between a cream and powder, so they blend seamlessly onto the lid and have amazing pigmentation to boot.

Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified in Child Star - Did I just talk about this in my last post? Yes. Am I going to talk about it again? Yes. I was so sure I needed this lipstick in my stash and I was not disappointed when I picked it up. I love a good nude lip shade and this is the kind of colour I absolutely love. A little grey to it, slightly pink and a bit browny. It dries darker than it applies so bear that in mind if you swatch it in store. I definitely think I'll be picking up another one of these!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara - Now, this isn't a new favourite, not by any means. I had my little travel size that I used for months and only got round to finally purchasing the full size last month or so. I'm really glad I did, as it just beats most of the other mascaras I've tried so far. Mascara isn't something that I really get excited about purchasing and I don't like having to try new ones. I tend to just reach for what I know and stick to that. This gives your lashes great length as well as volume and doesn't smudge on me like other mascaras do. Long story short: I'm staying loyal to this for now!

Nars Audacious Lipstick in Mona* - I love love love this lipstick! When I saw the colour of it I kind of knew straight away that it would be a firm favourite. I've been harping on about wanting a good orangey, browny red and this is right up my street. The fab shade coupled with the amazing formula of the Audacious Lipsticks makes for a pretty great lip product in my opinion!

Smith & Cult Nail Polish in Bitter Buddah - Not your typical wintery/Christmas shade but one I wore almost all month. I'm also not really a fan of mint green shades on my nails like I was when I was a teenager, but this is somehow a more grown up take on the classic colour. There's enough of a grey tone in there for it to look quite cool on the nails yet not leave them looking dull. Making any sense? All in all a pricey, but beautiful nail polish that lasts very well!

Kiehl's Super Multi-Corrective Cream - Big shout out to Kiehl's for having one of the best advent calendars I've ever tried! I made so many amazing skincare discoveries during December thanks to the calendar, but in the interest of streamlining in this favourites post, I've whittled it down to two. This is such a lovely, luxurious moisturiser. It really feels like you're doing something great for your skin and it leaves your complexion super soft and healthy looking. I can be a bit of a moisturiser floozy, but I've almost used this deluxe sample up completely!

Kiehl's Skin Rescuer - This is a product I'd had my eye on for absolutely ages. As someone with sensitive, often easily irritated skin, seeing "Skin Rescuer: Anti-Stress Redness Relief Facial Moisturizer" is pretty great. I can confirm, after using this for a few weeks now, that this moisturiser is, in fact, pretty great. I've used it both day and night over a facial oil or by itself and it delivers enough hydration without overwhelming my combination/oily skin. A lovely light moisturiser that I may just have to repurchase!

I somehow seem to have only just made the painful realisation that I'll have to repurchase my new Kiehl's favourites if I want to continue using them and that I don't quite have the funds to follow through on my new extensive sample stash. Perhaps I'll ease into it! I hope you've all had an absolutely fantastic month! I've also only just realised that this is the last post I'll be publishing this year! Woah. Well, thank you for a year of reading my rambly favourites and I hope you all have a fab NYE and in advance: Happy New Year!

  4. I love the benefit roller lash mascara! I think it's such a wonderful mascara and it's so easy to work with. I've also found another alternative - the Maybelline Lash Sensational. They work incredibly well together x
