January 2017 Beauty Favourites

So it's basically the end of January - that's a thing that happened. Along with the month drawing to a close, comes the usual monthly lineup of my faves from the last four weeks. Almost all of these are new(ish) discoveries which means two things: I made fantastic shopping choices and I suck at saving money. Here's a roundup of the best in beauty from the month of January!

Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Stepping Out* - I feel like I've had this since the end of December, but remember being hesitant to put a product I'd been obsessed with for less than a week into a monthly favourites post. I did a full review on this not long after because I love it so much and it's been a favourite ever since. The shade is right up my street, for starters, and the formula is fantastic. I'm still waiting on these to be officially released in Switzerland because I'm definitely going to be picking up another shade or two!

MAC Lip Pencil in Whirl - Bringing back an oldie over here. I feel like this lip liner is (in)famous in the beauty world, after Kylie Jenner touted it as the reason for her fuller lips. Well that turned out to be wildly false, but the liner is great nonetheless. I feel like I'll always go back to this because the shade works so well for me. I have very pale lips that practically blend into my face (attractive, I know), so they look much thinner than they are without any product on them. I've been using this to line my lips, following up with some balm (or the lipstick I'm about to talk about below) slicked over the top. The result: fuller looking lips that complement most makeup looks.

Catrice Luminous Lips Lipstick in Let's Go Brown Town - This is the product in question above: it looks lovely over a good old browny-nude toned lip liner. It's another one I've been banging on about for weeks around these parts and it's been firmly tucked away in my handbag since I purchased it. I love sheer lipsticks for easy, on-the-go application and for when I want a little something on my lips, but don't want it to make a statement. The shade of this is lovely and the formula feels hydrating. Yes, the lasting power isn't fantastic due to the glossy finish, but for a few quid I'm pretty darn impressed.

Korres Pomegranate Lip Butter - I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I was when I saw this in the drugstore in town. These lip butters are by far my favourite tinted balms and I've gone through about four of them over the last few years, all in different shades. I was horrified when practically every store that sold Korres stopped carrying the lip butters and assumed they'd been discontinued. I've already bought two (Pomegranate along with Jasmine) and they're another two handbag staples. I totally get that sticking your finger into a pot on the go is not everyone's jam, but as long as I sanitise beforehand I'm alright with it. These look lovely on the lips, have just the right amount of sheen to them and are super hydrating. Love.

Wet 'n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Gold Bar (similar) - Since Switzerland is about four months behind most countries with beauty releases, I'm bringing you a product today that you can't even purchase online anymore. I'm super sorry. If you have a counter near you, or you live in Switzerland, have a look and see if you can find any more of these. It's a lovely warm gold highlight that doesn't look chunky or glittery and imparts a natural glow. I shan't go on about it, since chances are it's unavailable to most of you, but I've linked to the other MegaGlo highlighters Wet 'n Wild carry. Precious Petals is one I've mentioned a fair few times and has the same fantastic formula as the gold bar. Definitely a line to check out if you like affordable highlighters!

Tarte Tarteist Pro Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette - I absolutely love this palette. The shades, the formula, all of it, it's fab. I did a full review of it along with swatches here. Please excuse the grubby packaging, the black plastic is one of those materials you can clean for ten minutes, pick up to put away and already have prints all over again. That is, however, my only gripe. It features a lot of mattes and only four shimmers, but I'm completely alright with that as it really fills a gap in my collection in terms of warm and cool toned mattes. There are so many different and creative looks you can put together with the shadows in here and it just looks so darn beautiful. I highly, highly recommend it.

Smith & Cult Nail Polish in Doe my Dear - Bitter Buddah was featured in my last favourites post and now this shade has made it in this month. If you like a greige nail, this is a gorgeous one. I've said it before, but I think that this is a great shade for those days when you don't really know what to go for, but you want to look polished and put together. It's an utterly non-offensive, flattering colour that goes with pretty much everything. These polishes are pricey but the formula is fantastic and doesn't chip as easily as some of my more affordable polishes.

Can you tell I'm mildly obsessed with lip products? I've already stuck Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk on my wish list, so we'll see if I manage to get my hands on that! Because apparently I don't already have enough nude lipsticks! What have been some of your favourites this month?

Don't forget to follow along!
