Sinkside: Underrated Skincare

There’s no shortage of posts chatting about the best new discoveries in skincare, let alone in choice of products. I do find, however, that some fantastic skincare bits don’t seem to get as much recognition as I believe they should. Now, skincare is something that is so subjective and everyone is going to have a different preference, but I thought that today I’d chat about some of my favourite products that I think deserve a little more credit. If these are products you’ve already read about fifty times then I’m sorry! I just haven’t seen much of them floating about online! So without further ado, here are some skincare bits I deem wildly underrated!

La Roche Posay Toleriane Fluide – La Roche Posay is by no means an underrated brand, I think most people have heard of Serozinc and Effaclar Duo+. Whilst I feel like the original Toleriane moisturiser gets a lot of hype, I don’t see much about this one. My skin gets along far better with the much lighter fluid version. It has very few ingredients, is unfragranced and all-round non-offensive, which means it’s a great match for my sensitive skin. Although this isn’t marketed as an acne-combatting product, I felt like I really had fewer breakouts whilst using this. On top of everything else, it’s pretty darn affordable too!

Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate – Another case of a sister product getting a lot more buzz – the Midnight Rescue Concentrate is a product I think almost everyone has stumbled across at some point on the internet. It’s a classic blogger favourite and with good reason too – it’s pretty fab. As someone with oily skin, if you show me facial oil in the morning I’d usually hiss at you and shield my eyes (I’m attractive in the mornings). I decided to go out on a limb with this one and give it a try, despite my common sense telling me to do the exact opposite. I will say, it’s a little much for me to wear under makeup on a normal-skin day, but if I know I’ll be doing a lot of makeup-free Sunday lounging, this is one I like to sub in to boost my skin’s hydration and give it some extra glow. Yes, I only have a few sample sizes, but I’m rationing those out until further notice!

Roger & Gallet Vinaigre de Beauté – I am obsessed with this stuff. It took me a long while to figure out what it was and what it does, but I eventually settled on facial toner. My French isn’t fantastic, but I’ve also drawn the conclusion that it’s an acid toner and it certainly seems to perform that way! This has a bi-phase formula that you shake up and dispense onto a cotton pad or, in my case, dump onto your hand and (gently) slap onto your face. I feel like this does such an amazing job and reducing texture on my skin as well as boosting the overall brightness of my complexion. I don’t think I’ve really read about this product anywhere and although it’s a little hard to get ahold of where I am, it’s well worth the research!

So there we have it, a few skincare products that I deem to be underrated. I hope there were one or two products in here you’re not bored to death of reading about and that this has been somewhat helpful if you’re looking to invest in some new bits for your skincare routine. Do you have any skincare products you think are underrated?

Don't forget to follow along!
