I'm not sure how things are looking over where
you are but in Zurich things are bloody gross right now. I thought I'd seen it
all with the cold weather and the rain but then it started to snow. There's
more snow ahead and even beyond that there are low temperatures and meager
sunlight to look forward to. If you've also caught yourself gazing out the
window, dismayed and cold, here are four things to make you feel more Spring-y.
1. Pastel Beauty - Groundbreaking? No. But if it
works it works! I dragged my pink and lavender hues back out the back of my
drawers weeks ago and if you think that a little (okay, a lot) of rain is going
to jeapordise that, you are mistaken. Personally, even just donning a pink lip
or a pastel nail can make me feel like we're actually nearing summer as opposed
to entering into a second ice age. Try it - it works!
2. Self tan - I know it's bad but I love lying in
the sun once it gets a little warmer. Slathered in SPF 50 no less and only
briefly but to me there are few things nicer about Spring than loading up on
that Vitamin D. As sunlight is currently a scarce resource, I've been faking it
using a gradual tanner. Believe it or not, having bronzed (albeit slightly
orange) limbs peeking out of my winter clothes catapults me right into that Spring
feeling. Fake it 'til ya make it.
3. Getting my healthy on - Spring is when I
really kick things up a notch on the healthy front. I've ditched the crisps and
skipped over to the gym TWICE already. Basics an athlete. Not only is it making
me all round more motivated but it's really making me look forward to sunnier
days. That way when the nice weather does roll around you'll feel confident and
pumped.
4. Planning holidays - To be honest I'm currently
planning Spring getaways I can in no way afford or actually execute, but it's
fun to look nonetheless. Plus I am actually figuring out plans for summer so
I'm really embracing the vaycay planning thing. I have a long list of
destinations I'd love to visit, so I like to think I'm really just planning
ahead for future trips. Either way, it definitely makes me feel more
Spring/summery.
5. Filling up my ASOS basket - Again, half the
things I chuck in my online shopping basket are completely unrealistic, but
browsing for Spring clothes, whether real or window-shopping has really been
getting me excited for shorts und dresses. Hopefully I'll actually be placing a
few orders soon but for now I'm loving perusing the imaginary aisles.
So there we have it, the five weird and
obvious ways I'm tricking myself into a more Spring-y mindset. Are you feeling
the whole Spring thing? Let me know!
