May 2017 Beauty Favourites

I usually steer clear of these typical monthly faves clichés, but I feel the need to point out that we are now halfway through the year, people. I refuse to believe that it's an actual thing. Like it or not (I certainly do) summer is upon us and so the sweat-busting products, nude hues and summery fragrances are officially out. I've made a few notable discoveries in the last few weeks and I've been putting them to good use throughout. So without further ado, here's the best in beauty from the month of May.

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder - I wrote a full review on this recently, that's how enamoured I am with this product. If you have oily skin and struggle to keep your makeup on your face during the summer months, this is a fantastic one to try out. It sets your makeup in place and really blurs pores and fine lines. I do find that this can make you look a bit flat if you overapply it, but as long as you walk that line between matte and glowy, you should be fine. A pricey one but by far the best setting powder I've found thus far!

Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick in Hey Stranger - I'm so obsessed with this lipstick formula. It's a sheer gel (as the name suggests) so it's not one that'll cling to your pout and accompany you through thick and thin, pizza and beer. It does, however, wear super comfortably and is very forgiving as it won't emphasise dry lips. I really need to get my hands on a few more of these but am currently holding back because my bank balance needs some R&R. As soon as next month rolls around, you can bet on the fact that I'll be adding some more of these to my stash.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss in Papa Don't Peach - This has gotten a mention in a few posts here and there, but I feel like it deserves a place in this month's favourites. If you're not a fan of lip gloss, I feel like this might be one you'll like. I tend to avoid glosses like the plague - I find them messy, sticky and an all round faff. There are very few that I reach for and even those don't get a lot of use. As soon as I smelled this gloss, I knew it was going to be a different story. Scent alone doesn't make a product but the peachy/bubblegum fragrance of this gloss is so lovely that it's that much more likely to be my product of choice for the day. The formula is pigmented, non-sticky and lightly hydrating - a great one for summer.

Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud Dry Body Oil - Another one I wrote a whole post about so as you can probably tell, I kind of love this product. I'm a huge fan of bodycare and because I need to moisturise quite frequently, it can end up feeling like a bit of a chore. When you get to sub in something as luxurious as this, the whole thing is automatically ten times more pleasant. This is essentially a fragrance oil that you can apply to your body and will sink in right away. As it is a dry oil, it doesn't hang about or make a dramatic mess if you put on clothes soon after. It smells absolutely amazing and it's the kind of product that'll make you want to lounge about and demand everyone feels how soft your leg is after using it. Wince-inducingly pricey but a little goes a long long way!

Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish in Perfect Posture - I've been using this for months now and the super pale pastel hue has made it a firm favourite. I'm a fan of Essie's Gel Couture polishes; I think they last well and the pigmentation is pretty great. This shade in particular looks beautiful once applied and because it's so light, it really makes your hands look a bit more tanned than they really are - a welcome bonus during these first few pale weeks! If you've had your eye on one of these polishes for a while, I really recommend this shade. It's a lovely one for the summer months and it lasts for up to a week, which is ages for my nails!

So there we have it, the cream of the crop from the last four weeks. I'm beyond excited that the sun has finally started making more regular appearances and I'm fully embracing all the summery beauty that goes along with it! What have been some of your favourites from this month?
