NARS x Charlotte Gainsbourg Collection | Swatches

NARS x Charlotte Gainsbourg Collection, swatches, Kohliner in Cours du Soir, Multiple in Alice, Lip Tint in Promise, Hydrating Glow Tint in Light and Medium, first impressions

As soon as the NARS x Charlotte Gainsbourg Collection was announced, I decided I needed to get my hands on it. If you don't know who Charlotte Gainsbourg is, she's a British-French actress and singer and the daughter of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg. The collection came about following a photo session she did with François Nars, after which he decided he must make a collection inspired by her. True to her look, the collection features smoky hues on the eyes with fresh tones thrown into the mix.

Honestly, I'm kind of smitten. I love the contrast between dark and moody eyes and fresh cheeks and lips, so this collection is one that really speaks to me. I have a few bits from the collection so I thought I'd talk you through some of them and do a little swatching! So without further ado, here are a few of the gorgeous pieces!

Kohliner in Cours du Soir* - I'll admit that when I first saw this I assumed it was just a black liner, which I didn't find all that groundbreaking. When I swatched it, however, I saw that there was a lot more to it. The shade is described as a "moss green", but I'd say it's more of a blackened green. It's such a unique colour and I don't have anything in my collection like it, so I'm really looking forward to using this to do a bit of a messy smoky eye look. Formula-wise it feels soft and has great pigmentation, so it doesn't seem like one that'll tug at the eyes - always a huge plus with an eyeliner.

Multiple in Alice* - I love the NARS multiples. For me, there are few things that beat a good ol' multipurpose product. To me, this just screams spring and summer. It's a beautiful rosy pink shade that seems like it'll perk up your whole complexion with one quick swipe. The finish is dewy, so it won't be one that emphasises dry patches or looks cakey on the skin. It's also quite sheer and buildable, so I think it'll be a lovely pick for minimal makeup days too.

Lip Tint in Promise* - I've never tried this particular formula from NARS and when I saw the packaging, I assumed it would just be a gloss. This is actually sheerer and lighter in formula than the glosses, which I quite like. The colour, therefore, does apply lighter than what you see in the bottle, but can be built up for what is described on the website as a "red plum" shade. This really feels lovely on the lips, it's not sticky at all and is quite unlike gloss/tint products I've tried before. If one of the three shades tickles your fancy, I highly recommend giving it a swatch in store.

Hydrating Glow Tint in Light* & Medium* - Of all the products in the collection, this is probably the one I was most intrigued about. It's not often I try new base products, especially ones with a brand new formula. It's described as a "gel cream" that aims to "awaken dull skin and even out tone with sheer, buildable coverage". When I tried this on the back of my hand it sheered out a lot, however it is marketed as a buildable product, so I have to try this a little more to see how it holds up. Expect a full review on it soon!
