The Game-Changing Powder for Oily Skin

I think for most gals and guys with oily skin, staying somewhat matte throughout the day is a major issue. For years I've had to just deal with the fact that makeup will inevitably evacuate my face come afternoon and I'd just have to walk around looking like a blotchy, patchy mess. I'm sure that is, to some extent, also down to my less than professional skills as well as perhaps not always combining the best skincare with my base products etc etc. I do, however, mean it when I say I've tried pretty much bloody everything and pretty much all of it has done almost nothing.

I recently bit the bullet and purchased a full size of the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Loose Powder. I'd previously had a teeny weeny sample size that I completely used up and stubbornly refused to repurchase it because ouch that's expensive

After Sephora landed in Zurich I decided to go ahead and play around with it at the counter to see if it was as good as I remembered. I was toying with the idea of buying the pressed powder because it's just so much less messy but the texture didn't match that of the loose powder at all. Where the loose powder skimmed over my pores and left the back of my hand looking flawless, the pressed powder left residue and looked all round crap. Yes, the back of my hand isn't the best way to test powder, but that's how I made my decision.

This is basically a loose, translucent powder that aims to mattify and leave you with a smooth luminous finish. Those two points would usually seem tough to combine but somehow this powder manages. It does a fantastic job at burring pores, which I think a lot of people with oilier skin struggle with. Once you apply this, you're going to be pretty matte all day. There is still some shine that pokes through here and there but it is straight up the best mattifying powder I've ever used.

In the past I'd usually start to get shiny mid-morning if I applied my makeup at around 7am. By the afternoon most of my foundation would have faded and I'd just be a super shiny mess. With this, my makeup still looks intact by the end of the day. I will say that this can make your skin feel ever so slightly tight if you use too much of it, so bear in mind that you only need a really tiny bit!

All in all I'm completely head over heels with this product. If you have oily skin I highly highly recommend checking it out in store. I know it's pricey but you can use it sparingly and it really is such a game-changer for your base. Have you tried this powder? Let me know! Have a fantastic weekend and happy Friday!

Don't forget to follow along!
