Life Lately | Barcelona and Blogging Blues

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I went to Barcelona for a (very) long weekend last week. I got back yesterday and the only thing that's softening my holiday blues is the nice weather we've currently got going on here in Zurich. In light of that, I'm sat tapping out this post on the balcony before I go to work. I felt like writing a bit of a chatty one today so here's yet another instalment of of my rambly updates!

Right, first things first: let's talk Barca. I went off to Spain on Friday evening with a friend for what we both thought was going to be a vacay featuring sights by day and a lot of going out by night. Well, turns out yours truly has morphed into a bit of a grandma. I really underestimated how knackered I've been from the last few crazy busy weeks. When we were actually in Spain I was so tired from walking around and seeing all the sights that come 9pm I'd pretty much checked out. We managed one night out the whole time we were there and the rest of the time I was happy to just explore the city, eat tapas and drink sangria.

Barcelona more than lived up to my expectations; it's such a gorgeous city and there's so much to see and do. On top of that it definitely didn't hurt that there were beaches to be made full use of. It was kinda the best of both worlds as far as trips go and I highly highly recommend visiting if you haven't been before! If you do fancy seeing a bit more of my trip to Barcelona stay tuned: I may have forgotten my camera but I took a boatload of iPhone photos, which I think I'll just compile into one big post.

As the weeks leading up to me going away were so busy, I really slacked on the blogging front. I'll hold my hands up right now and admit that my organisational skills as of late have been shoddy to say the least. In fact, Monday was the first day since I started blogging almost two years ago that I went off my three-a-week posting schedule didn't put up a new blog post. It's definitely one of those things that no one notices but me but I was still a tiny bit miffed about it. Blogging always has and always will be a hobby for me before anything else but once I set a schedule for myself I hate not sticking to it.

I think I speak for a lot of other bloggers too when I say that the blogging world has seemed a little bogged down lately, especially with the social media algorithms seemingly doing their best to work against us. I still adore blogging - it always has and hopefully always will be a great creative outlet for me - but sometimes it can be a little tricky to keep the motivation levels high. Thankfully the community (of which I'm mostly a more quiet member - credz to my awkward social media shyness) is full of creatives putting out amazing content, which, cheesy as it sounds, really does push me to put my back into it.

So here's to getting it together and upping those organisational skills again. Perhaps I'll even put one of my thousand decorative notebooks to good use. Wild.

Don't forget to follow along!

  1. I really want to go to Barcelona! I've been to another couple of parts of Spain, but never to any of its main cities. I've been feeling the same way about blogging recently - I'm SO behind on my (self-imposed) schedule, and it really does feel as thought he algorithm is against us!
